D.VA Self-Destruct

It’s the fact it has huge range, and huge damage. Why both? You just randomly get killed by it from so far away

It’s not random. It’s line of sight. And the more you play and the more you experience the game the more you’d know where to position.

Cause it’s an area denial ability (with the threat of damage being what makes space). It has both range and damage because it has the longest wind-up/activation time of the tank ults. Making it one of the easiest one to counter if you pay attention to it.

Look, we’re not trying to dismiss your frustration. Feel free to complain, I encourage it. But as the experienced player I hope you can trust us when we say that’s one of the easier ultimates to predict. And the reason you’re being frustrated is simply the lack of experience (as you say you’re a new player). It’s an ultimate that can easily be managed by gamesense and not mechanical skill. The more you play the more you’ll understand our perspective.

I guess that that is true

It’s 2022 and people are still dying to the most predictable d.va bombs

i play both dva and mercy almost exclusively, have since ow1 was released and the community collectively forgot that you need to actually worry about ultimates as a whole and plan around any of them when mass res was removed because of the complaints, hide and res wasnt even the best tactic for the ultimate in the first place if you wanted to win, tempo res was, but its easier for people now mercy has an ultimate that can, for the most part, be entirely ignored

Welcome!

I don’t think so. I think explosive abilities should have an enormous AOE, otherwise what’s the point? For that reason, a lot of the bombs in overwatch are letdowns, but that’s just my opinion.

Map geometry counters her hard. D.va’s ult is basically something to convince you to back away, or else. If you can turn even the smallest corner, your safe. In some cases, you can be on or near the point with the bomb and still survive.

Some characters don’t even have to run too far. Hog can stay pretty close and use Take A Breather. Sig and Rein have their shields. Ball and Winston can fly far away, and then fly back in with no sweat.

Really, D.va’s bomb has never been that impressive.
