I see so many bad players use her or not getting the help they need so I assumed she was bad but I’ve been getting more practice with her and she is very underrated and underused. Especially in open queue where you’re mostly fighting DPS players
I love having a tank that can fly, do decent damage, a second chance with her mech and decent ult. Dealing with annoying dps like Hanzo or soldier is great
Unless you’re in a GM lobby, you usually play her and:
– Perform badly (for whatever reason like skill issues). Then nobody cares and lets you do your thing because you’re not a threat anyways. Hence “underrated”.
– Perform well. Then enemy goes Zarya + Sym and maybe Moira. So if you’re not 2-3 tiers above them, you’re stomped into the ground and you switch. Hence “undersused”.
Hard counters are bad for the game yet for some reason beam heroes allow to delete her from existence by a press of an “H”.
In my experience, D.Va’s usefulness depends entirely on how good your Supports are. If your Supports are good, you can run D.Va against Zarya/Symmetra and still win unless the enemy team is just outright better than you (ie. they don’t win by simply counter-picking).
It would be nice if D.Va got proper changes for 5v5 but I also don’t really know what I’d be OK with in that regard - I don’t want an Orisa-style rework for her.
Finally someone stating facts about dva instead of the crybabies shouting BEAMS, BEAMS, BEAMS. GM streamers (you love to hate them I know) have all been pointing out how strong DVa is for multiple seasons and the PLEASE NO BEAMS crowd keep trying to get one of her main weaknesses nerfed against her to make her even stronger.

Nothing is more underrated than the mech squish IMO. I’ve won so many games on escort doing that at the last OT push when they all huddle away from my bomb

Performing poorly or not, I usually find relief in seeing an enemy D.Va because it basically means free food. Platinum and diamond range, anyway. Most D.Va players in there will either stand their ground all day like they think she’s Reinhardt and occasionally disappear from the action when they’re low.
The effective D.Vas - in my experience - almost ignore the enemy tank and just bounce back and forth between attacking enemy squishies and peeling their teammates.
It’s kinda the polar opposite of Orisa, whose entire goal in life is to cycle round and round in an effort to just waste the other tank’s time, which, in her best-case scenario, boils the match down to a tankless 4v4.
It’s not just about supports imo. In order to run D.Va into Zar and/or Symm you’re basically asking for all healing resources to get funnelled into the D.Va. So the game can be won in a couple of ways:
The other players on your team have good positioning sense, and don’t really require the healing, so it’s ok to dump all heals keeping her in mech.
The other players on your team have a miserable time with no heals, spend the whole game walking from spawn, but if the D.Va is good she can clutch and win the game. On this scenario the only person having fun is the D.Ava player.
A lot of the time the supports will try and help everyone, and the team never has a tank and just gets mowed down.
She is underrated right before Zarya is being picked in 11/10 matches against her, and then Dva becomes underdeveloped, undertuned, and under under.
These are the forum dvas crying about beams. Stand there in front of a beam and get de-meched and it was all the beam’s fault!
dvas strong, shes got a high skill discrimnation tho. she’s hard to carry with in most l;obbies after the first fight when ppl start counter picking you. She’s a good character in terms of potential and how much easy value you can get out of her (enough to be fun for noobs but not too much that shes cheesy). shes quite a fair hero
its frustrating to play vs stacked beams for sure tho
you can carry with her, its just not fun to main her really compared to maining niche heroes like sym for example imo. Cos even when I’m on sym vs pharmercy i still have loads of things I can do, whereas vs zarya/mei/sym as dva I basically can’t do anything except give and then hopefully eat their ults, whilst giving all the space in the world and eating all my supps resources. Its 
dva is strictly a flex pick. She’s playable in lots of situations, but tank is dominated by rock paper scissors mechanics. No one cares tho so it is what it is
if they changed dva everyone would start screaming about matrix again so tbh Idrc that she’s in this weird state
I love playing Dva personally due to how fast she can swapp between low and high ground and eat a lot of nasty stuff other tanks can’t.
That’s kind of how i’ve experienced other Dvas as well when i’ve been on damage or suppport. They also empty their DM way too fast and never use cover to recharge it. Kinda like how some do with Rein and his shield. They keep it up until it breaks then they just rush in with no shield or run around like passive NPCs.

I virtually never play Zarya, myself. D.Va’s no less susceptible to the hammer, although the DPS per target with it is lower.
Plus, yeah, D.Va’s burst damage is just worthless in tank vs. tank. She’s not even good against herself.

Diamond and below, really. I see some who don’t, but it’s like ten to one, at least in my experience.
The kind who haven’t had a lot of experience playing Dva or the kind who think they’re the best Dva players out there and doesn’t realize how much pressure they’re putting on their support.

tank is such an easy role sometimes it freaks me out. All you have to do is the bare minimum and suddenly youre apparently better than 90% it sounds like
ppl really think in diamond that theyre supposed to trade with a rein all game on mid low ground as dva…
just makes me self conscious cos if it sounds this basic why am I still at it
hard to grind it out tho cos its not fun. maybe thats the issue

Has a support i hate having dva. Majority of dva just stand there, they don’t peel, they don’t take cover to get healed fully. Meanwhile we have to keep pumping heals and get nothing in return.
In turn when they die. All they say “no heals, supports terrible”.
