Her animated short is the cutest thing that blizzard have ever put out and she self destructing on the other ominc was badass
People are honestly complaining for the sake of complaining. The cinematic adds a new dimension to her character that we didnât have before and itâs great.
It didnât tell us anything we didnât know, except a childhood friend getting frienzoned.
This is the same for Rise and Shine and mostly Honor and Glory. Itâs called character development.
Like, I had no idea she was selfless thatâs kinda stupid example but it makes her character less celebrity and more human
What dimension is that? That she fought and lost people? That was to be expected.
Its no different to Pharahâs comic.
We needed lore, not more of what we already knew.
Thereâs no character development here. Rise and Shine and Honor and Glory did character development. This short only showed us some predictable flashback that has nothing to do with Overwatch. At least the Mei and Rein short advanced the story, this one did nothing, it didnât even add any lore.
to be a charcter you need a character. Rock have more character in his action movies
You can see that she isnât just some one-dimensional overly-happy âgamer girlâ and that she actually cares about people and is capable of showing emotion.
After so many months of, âD.Va is such a boring character hurr hurrâ seeing her as Hana and not as D.Va is refreshing.
You mean like the entire cast except Talon members?
This short made D.Va so much more relatable for me. The whole âItâs okay to ask helpâ -thing hit so close to home for me. Iâve been bit of a workaholic on past and reluctant on asking help from others. Taking too much weight on my shoulders. And that didnât end up well for me.
I used to play D.Va a lot back in 2016-17 but i never saw all this depth in her character before this short. Lore wise, she feels like new hero now.
You can see that on any character fighting a war.
Nothing in the game so far has indicated that D.Va has any sensitive side, except for maybe one or two voicelines here and there. It frankly does not matter how many other characters have a similar personality. This is purely character development that the community asked for and has asked for for a long time.
Giving her a personality a lot of other characters have in the cast is NOT character development.
There was never a hint that she had a selfish personality in first place so all in all, we see the Tracer of Korea. The unique trait of D.Va is still that she is a high skilled gamer, nothing new. What people call ânewâ is that she behaves like a typical Overwatch agent, something that shouldnât be shocking to begin with.
The story as a whole does not progress one bit.
The animation and voice acting were fine. Thatâs the only thing good I have to say about it.
The âemotionalâ story was bland, predictable, and lacking any sort of good character development.
But hey, at least D.va fans/mains got to see their bait fly her mech and friendzone some random guy.
The community mostly wants the story to advance, now we have to wait another year with a short that adds nothing to the story, not even to D.Va.
It really doesnât tell anything new. We know sheâs fighting Omnics in meka. OK that fallen brother (RIP) is someone new but he hardly add any new info also. If the short was about the âraceâ they mentioned then it would have been more interesting.
Character development, or developing a character, is still character development no matter how many characters are similar.
You know âthe communityâ isnât a single group of people who all want the same thing. If you seriously believe that Iâm wrong in saying âthe communityâ has been asking for D.Va lore (As well as Zenyatta, Pharah, Lucio etc.) since the beginning of time then I donât really know what to tell you.
Iâm sure your âstory-advancingâ lore will come eventually.
This short didnât give us any D.Va lore.
It gave us some character development, showed off more of Busan and her influence there, revealed her friend, showed how the omnics attacking Busan work etc. etc.
âAnyâ is hardly accurate. The only argument you can have here is whether there was enough lore. In my opinion, there was for now. Feel free to think differently, not that you need my permission.
