D’va is going to need buffs. I don’t think she is particularly strong in current Overwatch but as the Devs stats have already shown D’va is absymally weak in OW2 with a 43.8% win-rate.
Defense matrix rework: Max. range:
10 meters → 12meters Duration:
0.5 seconds min. → Removed
2 seconds max. → Increased to 2.5 seconds Cooldown:1 second → Removed
DM CD and minimum duration have been removed. D’va is now free to flicker how DM as much as she wants.
However, upon activation DM reduces incoming damage instead of completlg destroying them for the first 0.3 seconds. Every 0.1 second reduces the incoming damage by 33%, until it reaches 100% where projectiles/damage are just destroyed like current DM.
This means that if a D’va flickered her DM for 0.2 seconds to destroy a helix rocket from soldier. The helix rocket would not be destroyed but instead deal 66% less damage. After 0.3 seconds of activation time, everything is destroyed like normal.
Note: The removal of the CD and minimum usage duration of 0.5 seconds allows D’va to be very efficient with her DM usage, however the 0.3 second delay before fully being able to delete damage means she can’t simply flickering her DM for infinite value.
DM now has 2 modes: Projection and Protection Projection is DM current mode, with the 12m range. Protection DM range is reduced from 12m to 3m, however it is much wider and slightly wraps around D’va.
The 2 modes can be cycled through by clicking LMB while using DM.
Move speed:
-40% [penalty], except when using booster is now applied gradually over 2 seconds upon shooting.
This does nothing to fix dva. she needs damage. if you are going to tune every dps to keep her at range and poke her out indefinitely her getting on them should be near a guaranteed kill
I don’t know that damage is enough as it’s so easy to catch her out. The problem with Dva is she flies in and is stuck without the benefit of a Winston bubble or CC like Doom.
I think if they lowered her flight cooldown, increased her flight uptime and improved the boop potential from her booster, that would be a good place to start. Outside of that, I don’t know. It feels like Blizzard is hesitant to touch DM as it’s such a strong ability.
Let’s not even pretend her crit box isn’t absolutely insane, even for a tank:
https://prnt.sc/EXTKICbT9sFH
Plus it sits right in the middle of her bodyshot hurtbox, meaning you can miss a crit and 100% of the time land a bodyshot, while this isn’t uncommon on tanks, it is overdone with Dva.
Cough*
DmonDiff did which was likely due to an old greentrotsky post from a while back lol
I seriously believe that if micro missiles had tracking her whole kit would function so much better.
Missiles indicate tracking anyway so just add it to them. Let’s her have ranged poke and consistent damage outside of point blank.
Tacking on MM and 15 meter dm with 0.5 second cooldown would honestly be what I’d do.
And she needs to be able to RELIABLY boost, missiles, fire AND matrix at the same time. All four.
AND… i think she should be able to booster strafe. instead of just forwards, she should be able to hold A or D and then boost to the sides. For MAXIMUM agility.
I believe only head hitboxes has ever been reduced. Never has an overall hitbox been reduced to be more in-line with the visual character model.
That might be what you are talking about though.
The thing with D’va is that I am willing to bet that she actually doesn’t get headshot more often or at least not significantly more than the other tanks. Which is why the devs have probably never reduced its size. They look at the stats and say its fine.
I say this because the way Dva’s head hitbox is oriented is that from the front it is incredibly easy to land but from the sides and the back, it is near impossible. So once again, compared to the likes of Orisa, Hog, Rein etc. She probably gets headshotted less often.
That is just my theory why the devs have never reduced its size.
