D.va mains rejoice! We get the old armor back

Do you mean in the Classic version? Not sure if it’ll matter much. She’ll lose micro missiles, right click DM and can die from her own bomb lol

She will be terrible again. Dm on a cooldown was so bad. 10 seconds of having no defensive. Guess she can fly away and wait till it’s back up.

This isn’t a good version of D.Va. there’s nothing to rejoice about.

  • Dying to own bomb
  • Longer self destruct timer
  • 75% speed reduction while firing
  • Bigger spread
  • DM now ineffective inside of 0.5 meters
  • DM on 10 second cool down
  • 500 hp (400 armor / 100 white health)
  • 5 second boosters
  • No ability to shoot while boosting
  • No micro missiles

D.Va was the worst tank in the game at launch and it wasn’t even close.

Isn’t the 1 sec dm cd patch there

Ok since they have self destruct this is probably not there.

Still dva 1 dva 0

Nope. This is day 1 patch Overwatch. They had her dying to self destruct in the trailer.

I’m still going to play it and enjoy the nostalgia. I’m just not going to pretend D.Va will actually be good. This was her absolute worst state by a significant amount even at the time.

Ya i think we will get better dva when they do moth meta next is this classic same version till 3 weeks then it changes or these changes will happen in these three weeks.

I actually liked moth meta. The forums didn’t. OMG the posts on here.

The most diverse tank and dps lineups were viable during moth meta. The only stale aspect of it was you needed to run a Mercy. But pretty much any tank or dps duo could see success in that meta.

Ya i always think the game started showing signs of going down after that , the response to mercy mains after nerfs was poor and kinda drive casuals away, mercy was like the casual audience mainstay and also she attracted support oriented players at start and let them get acquainted before they played others.

For me I never cared about rezes much it was just part of the game same as anything else like hog hook or widow etc.

IMO Mercy mains have always been dunked on. And I think often unfairly. Just how I see it.

I’m rejoicing only at the novelty of being able to play Dva at her worst state once again.

Launch Dva was awful.

And if we’re comparing armor, Dva had 375 armor total not long ago before they put it to 325 where it is now. 375 being a better version of armor compared to launch’s 400 armor and that’s not even considering she’ll have 500 total health.

100 hp 400 armor was original Dva health total.
10 second dm cooldown, boosters at 5 second cd, no micro missiles or shooting primary while using boosters, bomb takes 4 seconds to detonate, primary fire spread back to 4.15 degrees, primary fire pellet total from 11 back to 8 and damage per pellet from 2 to 3 so that’s something I guess, shot pattern will be random again, call mech back to 50 damage, dm back to 15 meters but it’s the 10 second cooldown version so doesn’t really matter, no immortality during eject, bomb’s 1000 damage zone reduced by 2 meters, I think that’s about it.

Dva on launch was bad but fun so hopefully I’ll be able to have some fun tomorrow.

I remember they lied and said they would revert it if people did not enjoy the rework. And then they went to war with Aria Rose because Mercy mains disliked the rework. Yeah…

The issue is the perception that those players representing even the majority opinion or even the entire population. Instead of simply being a loud mouthed minority. Its hard to sift through things without more exact measurements.

The rework wasn’t really much of a rework. It gave her +1 ability and changed her ult. With the bonus of accidentally adding a bug to her character that lead into a really big change on guardiant angel.

Most people myself included actually became Mercy mains after her rework because they introduced the bunny hop. Not because of how rez and ult interacted. The old crowd liked Mercy’s ult because it was literally the ONLY thing in her kit to give you that dopamine hit of I changed the course of the fight. All you really did was just press Q. You had to wait for a lot death for it to happen. It wasn’t very engaging gameplay.

The guardian angel change is really what made Mercy fun to play where you were super mobile now and you had way more control over where to move than being completely bound to where your allies positioned and being constrained to it.

Valkyrie was a big bonus as well since it wasn’t just flight. You could could turn battle mercy with it make an impact without waiting for people to die. The Valkyrie rework is the era where Mercy became known for her mobility because of the GA change and the freedom of flight given to Valkyrie.

Movement is what’s kept people on Mercy ever since not the rez.

Of course. I am a bit biased, but my homie G skillet used to be a Mercy one trick and literally quit the game in that exodus.

I convinced them to eventually return and they actually preferred Mercy more once they gave it a fair chance (but they were no longer a one trick). My Sistah Spice was a Mercy enjoyer that actually preferred her after the rework as well. Albeit, Mercy is one of her least played supports these days.

It might have been more of a psychological problem than anything. I just felt as if the feedback was strongly in favor of a revert and they never followed up on it.

I do not know what Mercy mains are about, and obviously no two Mercy mains are alike. But I just did not enjoy how they were treated during that time to be perfectly honest. It did not sit well with me. Leaves a nasty taste in my mouth.

I feel as if Mercy still needs a little something extra at the moment. This is not 2017 any longer. We have a lot of other supports that people love and respect such as Kirko and Juno. But still. Mercy deserves some love.

Most of these issues I blame on having a small support roster early on. The game launched with 3 supports. Symmetra was a failed support vision based around damage. Team 4 was very adamant about releasing like 1dps/1tank/1support for nearly all of OW1.

It wasn’t until OW2 where they finally spammed the wazoo out of supports to give us more variety and I found 4 supports I genuinely like to play. Juno, Kiriko, Mercy, and Brigitte. There really was no alternative to Mercy for the longest time and now I’ve see more Mercy players diverge away from her into Kiriko or Juno. Some went to Lifeweaver as was arguably one of his ideas as a character.

Dva bomb doing self damage is fun because it’s silly. Defense matrix also had insane range and width at launch and her primary fire was OP. I’m looking forward to playing this version again.

Moth Meta Mercy had almost 100% play rate and heavily dominated the game. Even with this in mind all the Mercy mains complained when she got nerfed.

Mercy mains are not entirely innocent.

I think that the community drove a lot of them away. Mercy was arguably the most popular hero for a very long time. And now I don’t see many people who main her. We killed off the Mercy player base by being toxic towards them.

And I get that there was some unreasonable arguments against nerfing moth meta Mercy. She was OP. But to be fair she existed because people had already been on a crusade against mass Rez forcing a rework. And even after she was both reworked and nerfed people still have a grudge against Mercy to this day when she’s legitimately poorly performing now.

I assume we will get multiple of these through different metas leading up to reintroducing ow2 6v6 version. Like an alternate reality where ow2 stayed 6v6 and then we have both versions. That would be a really cool way to bring back 6v6.
