I don’t know about deranking or buffing ranking. But, if the SR system is working correctly I will say this. If it is fair and calculating MMR properly, the ratio of DPS, Tank, and Support will be the same at all ranks. Just to be clear, the ratio not the number.
If the ratio is out of wack at the top, then that’s a problem and could be part of the reason why the issue is so much worse at the top.
So, if in Gold the ratio is 1:2:1 then it should be 1:2:1 in GM. I think what’s happening is in GM it’s more like 1:15:5.
I agree, I think. Do we understand each other though? I’m concerned about ratio. You said the bell curves should be synced. That’s ratio. If there are 2 DPS players for every tank at Gold then there should be 2 DPS for every tank in the top 500. If that ratio is not consistent then you get a much bigger difference in queue sizes at different ranks making some people think the problem is extreme and others think it isn’t so bad. So, you are basically agreeing with me on that I think.
When you talk about not being important if they are judged the same. I think it’s actually important that they aren’t. Different roles have totally different stats that are important. The important thing is making sure that you aren’t overly favoring the promotion of one role or another to higher ranks so that you aren’t creating a queue time nightmare.
If the ratios are correct in the first place then that wouldn’t be necessary. Since it appears to be necessary then the SR system does need an adjustment.
Imagine going through all this nonsense to try and support the 222 mistake. All these resources trying to fix queues in 222. Sunk cost fallacy.
We could just as easily have gone into a LFG rework.
A proper LFG, to silence the ‘selfish dps’ casual tank/support mains that oh so desperately wanted a 222 prison.
This is not something Blizzard can fix, unless they mind control people that like playing DPS and make them forcefully play something else.
You can’t just make people stop liking what they like.
Will you start eating a food you despised because somebody covered it in chocolate?
Meaning sugarcoating the issue won’t solve it either.
The vast majority are experiencing worse queue times, terrible jailcell matches, cancelled encounters, more toxicity, more deranking and less caring, etc. Theres some echochamber data that says 67% prefer 222, though, so I digress.
I think the dps queues are long because there are too many dps players. Way more than tanks and supports. The issue is, the only two tanks right now are Sigma and Orisa and if you hate those two then, welcome to the club
The funny thing about people that say this is that 90% of the times they’re the ones who want to jump to a DPS hero from tank or support the moment the first team fight is lost.
Leaving the team without a tank or support.
If they wanted to play DPS why not play DPS since the beginning.
