DPS queue times averaging 20 minutes in low GM

Like wow something has to be done here. I knew role queue was gonna be bad but I didn’t think it would be this bad.
For the past 4 games I have queued for DPS in low GM every single queue has taken more than 20 minutes on a weekend afternoon.
And before you say jUsT qUeUe As SoMeThInG eLsE, the stupid role based sr system and rewards being split across 3 separate sr’s means you basically have to play all 3 roles if you want all of your comp points. Plus, I and a lot of other people don’t want to play the other 2 mind numbingly boring roles.

It is really sad that they did not address the problem as everyone hoped they would. I suppose the solution is to smurf into a lower bracket. Idk, I would not wait 20 minutes for a game.

But we knew this would happen.

Just que with a healer or tank friend if you have any.

If the queue lines are long it’s because players choose to wait in them. How does Blizzard have control over a player’s decision to wait in the longer lines? Best the company can do is let it be known DPS may have longer wait times and also incentivize those same players to queue for the shorter lines by giving them bootloxes and credits, both of which Blizzard has already done :man_shrugging:t2: Sometimes you have to ride the middle of the roller coasters if you don’t want to wait in the longer lines for the front and back rows. Your decision, mate, and not much more Blizzard can do about it really, know what I mean.

By designing the game better. That is how.

Hmm . . . not wanting to play the other roles for the reason that they are boring. . . where have I heard that before. . . Oh right, the other 4-5 dps on my team a couple weeks ago lmao

Dunno why everyone thinks the other roles are so boring. Personally I think they can be pretty intense. Sometimes you get a bad game, but that goes for any role lol

Just a consequence of a bad designing. We have lot of good and fun dps, a few of fun healers and a lot of boring as f tanks that have to deal with CC’s during the whole matches.

So, yeah…I don’t know how to fix this.

“Either wait 20 minutes or play a role you don’t like” isn’t a good solution.

yeatle waited 81 minutes for a game as tank… on his alt.
which, to be fair, is grandmaster, but still.

he ended up just closing the stream

also

maybe because not everyone is the same? most people like popping off, not wasting time healing or protecting the team

Woah really?

I definitely didn’t expect that kind of queue as a tank (but maybe because Sigma hype? If I understand right they released him into competitive beta? Which if they did, stupid idea imho)

That sounds like there is something majorly wrong in the beta queue system if it’s 81 minutes

stop one tricking and branch out into other roles is not an option? come on

This is beta season. Many people may wait for the real one to start.

  1. Games dosn’t matter now. Even history from this season will be ignored
  2. There is a lot of variance/randomness since many players are not on their proper MMR. I’m personally thinking of coming back to the game month after 222 season start when things set up

Also this is like Overwatch 3.0 (2.0 was introducing hero limit). Now Blizz can desing more dps heavy (more fun) tanks and healers and buff/rework some boring heroes

I think the long queue times for DPS just go to show that the design for tanks/healers in ow is fundamentally flawed. Its not as interesting to the masses.

Considering the beta doesnt count towards the real season I’d say it was a good idea. This gives players the two weeks of practice but in a more comp like manor. That way in two weeks when Sigma is released anyways they will already have practice.

Can’t force people to like other roles. I enjoy support and dps, but tanking is miserable.

GM is like 1% of the playerbase. You already wait much, much more than average without 2-2-2.

It is not like you used to wait 1-2 min and now you are waiting 20 min lol. If you are really GM, you sure are used to waiting like 10 min often.

Would you rather be in a team with 4 or 5 DPS?

Seriously, if you guys want it so much, revert 2-2-2 then. Bring that bulls*** back. I’ll play DPS forever, and I’ll be happy to be part of 5 DPS compositions with everyone. Let’s make a beautiful DPS party.

Maybe the brutal hard to swallow truth is that we need many dps players to quit the game. Blizz will try to make healers and tanks more fun but dps population is way to big

Yeah unfortunately just try to queue with a tank/support.

Another peev as a consequence of this is I’m pretty sure when you get that long queue and then someone leaves at the beginning, it cancels the match and doesn’t give you priority for your next DPS queue, which is quite bogus when you’re already waiting so many minutes, you don’t want to be waiting twice that long to actually get into a match. Come on.

^This should be addressed by Blizz if it is true

I don’t think it’s a great idea because even if it doesn’t mess with season numbers, it can still skew data. I would have liked to see how long queue times would have been without the incentive of a shiny new tank fresh off of PTR, plus I just like to have the adjustment period before the idea of putting a new hero even into a beta comp setting.

It’s just my personal little gripe with it. It’s nothing huge tbh.
