Dps please shoot the turret

I don’t know why but even my friends that play dps don’t want to shoot the turret.
It’s so dumb, like I play dps sometimes and i know a hanzo can like two shot it or a mccree can 3-4 shot it. And it probably takes like 3 seconds. They just kept telling me like brain dead thick skulled humans
“Don’t play around it”
??? Excuse me there’s a Hammond rolling around point booping me around in it’s los
And they insisted that I didn’t play around it like just shoot it

Edit: this should apply to anyone who can destroy it really easily not just dps
(I’m just mad that the dps I play with have a fear of shooting turrets)

Is THAT why nobody shoots at the turrets? The freaking tanks and supports want me to do it because I am a DPS. I missed that memo, fam. It explains a lot though.

You even get points for killing turrets, it goes into the statistics and is part of the calculation for MMR.

It really helps. If a mercy or any healer is there and they get targeted they are screwed because most likely that support is also being attacked

Yup, killing things is pretty much what you bring to the team.

Although, if I’m D.Va, I’ll happily rid us of some pesky turrets.

If the DPS aren’t killing it, it’s usually because:

  • Main tanks aren’t pushing in so they’re forced to focus the enemy tanks
  • The enemy main tank is in their faces
  • The enemy DPS are contesting them and are a much higher threat than a turret that deals 56 DPS, which is far less than what an enemy DPS player will deal unless the enemy DPS has potato aim
  • The DPS player is in a position where the turret isn’t in their line of sight/blocked by a barrier

Also, if you’re playing Orisa it will be your job to destroy deployables in most cases.

I cannot do that as Torbjorn.

Not to my baby, even if it is on the enemy’s side. A father can forgive the sins of a child.

Except Brigitte’s – hell no.

Its quite a fascinating trend that has absolutely no logic but yeah, it happens.
It also affects tanks, for some reason people tend not to shoot turrets and shields, which is … troublesome.

Ive been healing with Moira on teams with Road, Orisa and Soldier + Junk/Pharah and seen Enemy’s Orisas shield lasting for more than 6-7 seconds.

Really? Like thats not a priority? Just destroy the shield, grab whoever is behind and push. Its not that hard. The hardest part is to play AROUND the shield, because thats exactly what the enemy wants.

TLDR: Shooting shields/turrets IS a prority

It baffles me why nobody but me on my team has the idea to get rid of Torb or Sym turrets.

I main Sym so I know just how frustrating turrets are when ignored.

You have no excuse for Sym turrets either if they’re in your way. It takes a melee, a single melee and it’s destroyed. So do it!

Don’t look at me! I always focus them down!

FFS I even solo ult the damn turrets if I have to! ahh Meteor Strike, at least you have some use

As Orisa, they’re the first things i look for when entering a room. And yes, in most cases, i’m the only one shooting them. Which does make me wonder if the other tanks are able to deal with them at all.

Also, the usual pattern when i go after the turrets as Sombra is:

Destroy Turret, health is low, torb attacks, escape, pick up health pack, wait several seconds to setup another beacon, return to point, another turret is deployed, wait for torb to move away, decloak, destroy turret, escape from torb, etc. and that just goes on for the entire game.

“Sombra you’re not doing anything!”

When I play Symmetra it’s usually the enemy’s Rein or Zarya are the ones who kill my turrets.

It is rather amazing to say the least… at higher elos they erase turrets almost instantly because everyone is cognizant of how much damage they can put out. At lower, they have a static target shooting at them, and they for some reason still put priority on a moving enemy player first… the one they are less likely to take out.

See the problem lies in the turret when it gets a kill. I noticed turrets have status effects:

When a voice line procs, “they have a turret,” all allied DPS are induced with fear, the turret gains invisibility and the DPS will stop pushing. If turret kills a DPS, that DPS is induced with Despair and will now have all combat effectiveness reduced my 60%. After the same DPS gets killed by the turret again, they will be Beserked and Confused. Because of the combination Berserk and Confusion they will usually blindly charge the turret, often getting killed in the process. After 8 deaths by turret they will quit the game, focus the forums and write long posts about turrets being OP.

These status effects can only be cleansed if the DPS gets a multi kill and uploads it to YouTube.

I play support, and don’t even wait for the dps to shoot anything, I shoot it myself, because I know they will not do it.

Actually, I don’t expect that they do any sort of useful thing most of the times.

Had a game last season on HLC with 3 DPS and my team was like Ana can you kill the turret.

Anyone who can hit it, needs to shoot at it. It’s not a DPS specific thing.

Team game btw

Exactly thank you. It’s like they don’t understand constant damage kills you
That’s what moira does and how she gets kills

Dps usually do the most damage towards it besides zen or I guess Baptiste at close range
And I forgot to add. You want moira or brig to fight it? Just give them 10 minutes

I implore all of you not to shoot down the turret. I don’t want to spent every 9 secs for my baby to born again and die soon after. Plz let my kid enjoy taking you all out. Thank you.
