Honestly I’ve met more entitled support than I have DPS

Edit: I mean as in people complaining and using stareotyoes to talk about a role on the forums

I mean, everyone deserves an equal amount of blame.
DPS get the most blame because they have the most options. They’re expected to switch when they aren’t doing so hot.
But most times they don’t. Despite making up more than half the roster.
looking at you, genji one-tricks. switch when they have a zarya.

Welp, those supports that are toxic from dealing with toxicity in game go to forum vent out and those people view on dps is negative because of it.
Simple.
Not much can be done, its just hate cicle.

Supports and Tanks get naturally annoyed at DPS for 4 main reasons (and I play all three roles):

  1. Being inept at doing damage - ffs, don’t take McCree when you cannot aim people… what are you thinking?

  2. Taking non-ranged DPS when its obvious range is a problem - if you run Reaper/JR against a Pharmercy, don’t be surprised when you get called out for being an idiot. This combined with point 1 is compound: you should not play a character in OW, but a role; all DPS need to learn basic aim requirements, I don’t care if you main Reaper or not, he is not viable universally.

  3. DPS bears little concern or even feels obliged to consider their teammates; tanking and Support require to do well strong consideration of their teammates. All too often, DPS acts like Supports and Tanks are sort of the side characters to their story and don’t even bother to peel or coordinate.

  4. Because of the simplicity of the play, and the design of DPS characters, they often appeal to a younger group of players - and hence immaturity is often more associated with them.

To your point, if I had to decide which roles has the snottiest attitude without question its Supports though. Nothing worse than trash talk from a Level 30 Moira who is diving while you are not getting healed and trying to do your job as a DPS or Tank… or heaven forbid, the Mercy main who lives and dies off everyone else’s effort while hamstringing their team while the other healer is say Lucio, against an Ana/Moira pair on the other side. Yeah, that’s a good 4-6K of damage the DPS and Tanks now have to make up as Mercy flits about; don’t cop an attitude if all you do is heal.

main support players are entitled, lucio/zen players, and mercy players on ladder are :ok_hand: A+ top tier.

I see DPS switch more than any other role in the game. Literally everyone single time i play dps i get counter picked as so as someone respawns.

What I have noticed is that Damage players talk about support heroes in discussions and that support players talk about the damage players when they respond.
Basically, DPS attack a hero design, supports attack the player.

DPS attack a hero design, player and using “support/Mercy/tank” words as an insult to people he/she knows nothing about.
Even witch-hunts sometimes players he/she doesn’t like.

And after that they say “DPS players get too much hate”
Hmm… Why?!

Let a support start being viable or countering some of the DPS. They go wild. There’s probably 5 threads a day crying about Moira ( largely from Genji one tricks). They’re not all bad but they are louder than supports.

The DPS players that flame are few and far between, they are usually the people who don’t frequent the forums often.

However, people who come here a lot very often reply with passive aggressive arguments against the posters, trying to discredit them for their hero choices, or calling them bad players regardless of what rank they are, these posts farm likes like no other.

Go into recent threads and look at the defensive posts, you can even check mine.

There are a lot of unecessary personal attacks coming from support the community.

There are some entitled, irritating DPS mains here on the forums, but I agree for the most part that Support mains can be the worst. They’re the ones who perpetuated the DPS hate, after all, and that’s not fair.
