DPS passive is a result of 5v5

Since DPS couldn’t gain normal ult charge from tanks thanks to the new tank passive that was given as a result of 5v5, DPS felt underwhelming to play. Couple this with one less tank and all of that healing being pooled into the singular tank, it makes for a miserable DPS experience.

So, what does Blizzard do? They make the passive to make DPS engaging and also simultaneously nerf healing in one swoop. The problem? It also makes tanking completely miserable to play, no matter what value you adjust it to.

Enough. 5v5 clearly isn’t working, and will continue to not work if there is only going to be one tank. Gut the HP changes, gut the DPS passive, gut the support passive, gut the tank passive granting less ult charge from healing and damage, and gut 5v5.

Its high time we start letting this game heal.

The dps passive would’ve been great in 6v6. Would’ve made the game better and fixed a lot of the issues 6v6 had. Not the problem that people don’t wanna play tank but you know other issues.

Nobody wanted to play tank in 6v6, had to wait 10 minutes for throwing trash tanks

What’s it like in your universe of delusion and incorrectness?

They kept making the game bad for tanks. Who’d want to play with a bunch of whiny DPS players with main character syndrome anyway?

No, hypothetical Genji, you’re not going to dash in there and solo the team. Calm down. No, hypothetical Tracer, your sick flank isn’t going to work. We need to walk in as a team. But instead, they die and flame the tank. Who wants to play like that?

I’m getting counterswapped like heck in the main game now. I face entire tank busting team comps, and when that happens, its YOUR turn to swap to help me. But instead of doing that, I have my DPS saying “tank diff” or something stupid. Horrible players, and blizzard keeps trying to appease them for their ego.

This man is spitting. Though to be fair, people blaming tanks and saying tank diff is nothing new.

Easy fix. Let a portion of these players quit.

Then buff Tanks in Fun ways, until you get enough Tank players to fix Queue Times and Matchmaking.

And OW2 management team will not admit they are wrong. Because 5v5 NOBODY asked for this change. They closed OW1 servers with 6v6 and one week later (without any warning) they just started OW2 closed beta with 5v5.

Ya easy fix… kill your player base by going back in time to when the most popular role had the least fun. Then make the least popular role more fun to bring back a small fraction of the playerbase. Sounds like a good business decision.

What should the devs listen to anybody who doesn’t understand the Economic concept of an Opportunity Cost?

Yeah, they’d lose some players by buffing Tanks.

But they’d lose more by deliberately not getting enough Tank players to fix Matchmaking and Queue Times.

You state the exact reason 6v6 will never return.

Kinda. 6v6 will never return in Role Queue, but it could work in Open Queue (with Role Limits)

That would create another problem with matchmaking where players would be on off roles or main roles and have drastically different results. It would somewhat work but matchmaking would be hell.

Tbh, it wouldn’t be any worse than current Open Queue.

That said, I could see them replacing Open Queue with 6v6, but I very much doubt they are ever going to get rid of 5v5 Role Queue as their main game mode.

The main thing that has made tank unfun is their health buffs making the opportune play style being a damage sponge. Mass nerf tanks health pools and give them all skill based ability/damage mitigation abilities. (many already have that but some are damage sponges only)

I’d say give Tanks a 50% headshot resistance passive, then buff Tank headshot damage dealt by about 30%.

Which gives Tanks more lethality, but in a more “earned” way.

Then from there, adjust Tank survival to accommodate for the changes to be roughly the same as it is now.

Something that would help Mauga and Orisa without helping Reinhardt or Zarya? If you say so.

I’m going to be a bit critical here: The DPS passive is a result of some DPS players not having the game knowledge to position well enough and bait cool downs and/or not having the mechanics to secure kills. They weren’t able to secure certain kills after messing up, then went online to complain about it.

If you knew how to take aggressive off angles and power positions and actually could play your hero well, securing kills and impacting the game was not a problem on DPS.

As long as they are a damage sponge it will always be more viable to counter the tank rather than pick the hero you play best on. Health pools created this counter the tank problem and once changed back to atleast ow1 numbers we will see less need to counter the tank making tanking more fun.
