Can anyone give me a good explanation on why the least likely to switch when things aren’t going well, is DPS?

Because they only can play that hero?
Please don’t expect DPS mains to suddenly be a flex midgame.

Maybe it’s because I play a tank, and I’m always switching, while the dps stick to what they picked first load screen

Its not dps who dont switch.
Its just happened that way that most of players prefer dps heroes, so when they refuse to switch it makes you think all dps people are bad. Lot of Moiras refuse to switch too lol
I think it’s been about 4 season since I even bothered to place, so I really have no idea at this point.
Yeah it is.
DPS will play something totally against the rest of the team’s composition and ride it into the ground until we lose. Other roles don’t do this nearly as often.

If ur playing quickplay than that is why. People, especially dps will not switch in qp. I recommended sing discord or lfg. It’s ur best bet
Just had a match with a bastion and smobra that refused to switch, everyone else was switching up to try to win. It’s pretty sad really DPS seems to be the “This is my experience” community.

Oh did you not know? If they change, their hands, feet and tongue will fall off.
Same thing happens when they have to help with literal anything: from focus fire, to staying on point in ot.

Hitting the “I need healing” button from 10 miles away, while standing next to a mega.
It’s not dps, it’s every roles. The mindset of most player who think they can flex is basically this:
- Look at team comp
- Select hero base on team selected heroes
- Play the same hero constantly and never switch
Many so-called flex player never switch heroes if the team is doing bad, and not switching base on their teammates strengths and weaknesses. If they see hero comp is fine, they in their mind, they should be winning 100% of the time.
It doesn’t help that the game does not encourage hero switching due to the Ult economy. Until the devs address the Ult economy to promote hero switching regardless of the Ult charge lost, people will try to find the best comp they can and never switch heroes. Ult are just that important to swing the team fights.

I dunno, I find most people only switch if there are 10 seconds left and they’re respawning.

You forgot that they also ask others to switch when they feel they are not playing the hero that works best with the one they won’t switch off.
It’s OK in quick play as that mode is for having fun and not about winning
If you wanna try hard go for comp
Quick play is for fun with all wonky comp ,trying out things to practicing
That was the originally reason why I use to play QP as my main mode. Now I mostly play AI or MH.
