Dps isn't very fun

To be honest, I don’t play dps often and you can take this with a grain of salt. But tbh, dps is extremely boring and dull. I honestly love tank and support characters, but playing tank is honestly so stressful.

I just miss 6v6, those were good times. Also, QP is a joke lol

Its mostly finding the right DPS to play.

DPS right now is super boring if you are a tank/support player because all the DPS with utility or anything resembling strategic choice have been nerfed out of being fun and impactful.

If you dont play hitscans like Soldier or Ashe, you are basically just gimping yourself.

When you have aim as bad as I do, DPS is a nightmare to even consider playing

I’ve found DPS boring in most games for the last 20 years. Other roles take more strategy/planning/tactics/etc.

‘turn your brain off and frag out’ has always been a boring playstyle (nothing wrong with it if it’s your thing, but it’s not for me)

Supports are all 3 roles in one lol. Just look at bap and illari, damage? Check, healing? Check, abilities strong enough to make them tanky? Check (lamp and turret).

tanks/supps have low damage number on paper, but Blizz made them very easy to aim or almost aimpless. So that you often see their damage number is about the same or even higher than dps at the end of the match.

Only supps have their specialty : heal. What tanks have is just higher HP, and what dps have in common is nothing.

dps are just characters who don’t have spammable heal and have low HP.

Support/tank get usually higher DPS numbers often from sheer survivability rather than raw output. There can be some dominate tanks because they can actually survive to continually keep putting out punishment. DPS get high numbers due to sheer spammability of outputs.

The times you see a support put out high numbers is often the result of either A completely ignoring the entire team or B they are a cracked aim player who can actually hit shots and put out high DPS numbers.

In most of my games, I tend to see 2-4k support dmg output and I’ll see DPS anywhere from 6-10k depending upon the player. While tanks tend to consistently put out 8-10k dmg per game over 10minutes.

The other time you see low DPS player numbers is you have a gold DPS with a diamond support. Or you have a DPS player trying to play a hard hero and floundering at it for trying to force them in a bad situation. Even then, I’ve seen widows with like 2k dmg, but 10 elims.

Its not the whole story, but in general DPS consistently put out way higher numbers than supports in my games regardless of the role I play.

idk how bad you have to be to think that heroes that have around half the damage potential of DPS heroes are superior just because they have some self healing that doesnt cover even half of what DPS can output with bodyshots.

listening to those people is why we cant have nice things.

Season 1 and 2 were the most fun I’ve ever had playing OW. Since then they’ve power crept the support role and it’s had disastrous effects. I warned about it way back then when the first couple support buffs started creeping in. I said it was a slippery slope that could lead to really bad things. Everyone laughed at me. Well who’s laughing now lol.

Imma be real. I give DPS flack, but I absolutely hate that role to play. There’s way too much pressure. They deal the most damage, have snipers who can one shot and will absolutely be the first to blame if we lose next to the tank.

Maybe that’s why I play support these days. I feel like I can actually help the team and not get salt if my kills aren’t at the top. It’s easiest the most relaxing role to play on these days.

That is what happens when DPS players only allow hitscan/sniper heroes to be good and viable and everyone else needs to get a nerf every 6 months or someone might complain.

There is no viable diversity in the DPS right now. Its all the same 5-6 heroes being allowed to be good and everyone else has been shoved into ‘‘worse hitscan because otherwise hitscan players might complain’’.

Most ‘‘support buffs’’ were often minor crap like Mercy 5 ammo or came with compensation nerfs.

The only support that has been outright buffed to a degree that matters has been LW, and he was very likely released intentionally weak due to team mobility paranoia from blizz.

DPS is the least impactful role in the game now. It used to be the carry role in OW1, now the bloated supports and tanks decide most games.

The strategy with DPSs resides within timing, positioning and the micro plays that assure easier kills. It’s something that Supports and Tanks don’t have to deal with often other than specific combos or niches (Think only Doom and Roadhog do, having one of the most complex OHKO moves in the game, having to learn optimal crosshair placement to make sure all the pellets connect etc). Of course there’s some that just don’t have this level of mechanical depth outside of aiming, see Cass or 76. Bast at least has cool movement tech you can learn, Genji and Tracer have the highest skill ceiling in the game and so on and so forth.

I was thinking the same exact thing! Honestly hitscans are so easy to play but sometimes I wanna play hanzo or widow but obviously I’m terrible lol. But, a lot of the abilities I find, especially widows alt are so boring.

I was thinking but this may come off over powered for her. If they get auto lock sniping ability?? Maybe instead of seeing everyone. But, I see a lot of people hate widow

Worse that can happen is the forum catches fire lol, could be an interesting experiment.

Maybe stop playing Mei and Sym and thinking you are about to carry games with those two? Widowmaker and Hanzo are hella fun when you are in the zone.

Try Widow HS, you’ll be popping heads and getting dopamine boosts in no time after a few hours of getting bodied by GM widows.

This game has only been out for seven years!

Dps was the most boring role during 6v6.

All the Dps heroes damage being busted is because they were shooting at shields for twenty minutes looking for an opening.

Yawn.

Either you’re too new to know better or you need to take off those nostalgia coloured glasses.
