When are we going to sit down and agree that supports have always been overpowered, but that is balanced. Tanks are powerful at close range and if you let them get there you are at fault for it. and that is balanced *(Tank balance has been a mess internally for a while but across roles it is balanced). And the DPS role is supposed to be bad because if it is good no one else gets to have fun and the game stops being overwatch and becomes COD. And that is balanced.
Now:
This is from a person who started playing because they loved GOATs and organized play (scrims) and has never enjoyed soloquing or “popping off” alone. And wishes OW2 was a standalone game so they could still be playing 6v6. So plenty of people will disagree with this because they just want a different game than me, and thats okay. I am just sharing my opinions
OW initially was very fps centric with over the top abilities.
Then in their infinite wisdom and greed they also tried to pull in even more players , players like you into the game, and the end result was Goat. A game that is anything but fps.
So they ended up alienating the biggest part of their initial players base to scrap some extra crumbs.
Your right. But the reason they did that is because for the majority of their playerbase overwatch was an undifferentiated product. they could really play and FPS. but for those people they shifted over to focusing the game on. The non DPS players. it was a game for which there was nothing like it. The game shifted from pulling from a largely undifferentiated crowd and decided instead to rely on a niche but high engagement playerbase. Like me! With OW2 they chose to go back to catering to that original playerbase but that led to the people like me being very unsatisfied. While at the same time they deleted OW1 so i didn’t have a choice but to come along. And so i am left with a game that is dying because it is too differentiated for the initial audience, but not differentiated enough for the niche group that moved in afterwards.
Nah, they just didn’t want to nerf Tracer, so they had to buff literally everything else.
That’s me, the baby rage bastion main
Real talk though I think dev bias is less role specific and more hero specific.
I guess that’s why WM is getting nerf after nerf after nerf?
Not every DPS hero is getting “devs love”. It never was like that.
Least delusional support player right here. Every single support hero except Moira and Lucio is babied extremely hard.
It should be tbh. the fun to play with and against characters should be good and the unfun characters bad. its why i don’t mind them nuking doomfist from orbit.
Widowmaker is another example of an unfun to play with or against character who should be weak because of that. sorry but thats my honest opinion.
Moira is babied, she is just designed to be really good in like silver to plat. and so they baby her to make her good in those ranks, everyone else be damned
What does this even mean? Those are contradictory statements.
Problem is that those things are opinionated. Hence why many people dislike the bias
What a terrible opinion. I wish the game was never balanced with that in mind, ever.
I think the only thing that should matter in balance is fun. Not of the people playing the character, but of the people playing with and against that character
i mean to say that they are the most powerful role, always have been and always will be. that power created GOATs, that power is why every support other than LW ever released has seismically changed the game. Because they are so powerful
How is she babied when she’s a worthless pick in any rank where teams have more than 3 shared brain cells?
Because the majority of her playerbase fit into those ranks. since she is a low skill expression hero so better players most often move on to other characters
Yeah, well DPS players are so babied on the DPS role that they are moving to support to play DPS with more sustain.
Enjoy your queue times.
And who’s declaring what’s “fun”? Who’s the authority on it? You? So a hero should be nerfed and weak just because you (or similarly minded players) find it “unfun” and refuse to adapt? What about players who find it fun to perfect their skill and pour hours of effort on WM?
you seem to have missed the rest of the sentence
I don’t care about the fun of the person playing WM. its a problem of collective enjoyment. If everyone plays characters that are fun to play with and against everyone has fun. If people play characters that are not fun to play with/against everyone has a bad time
It’s only “fun” according to them if dps are PvE fodder to be thrown around like toys. Typical support mentality
