I know it depends person to person, but I can’t really find the “sweet spot” to start tinkering with it after. Wondering what the best “starting” DPI and sensitivity settings are. (DPI being for mouse settings and sensitivity for ingame)
Some info:
My mouse is a Logitech G502. It’s a bit on the heavy side, even with all the weights out of it.
I use a “ROCCAT Alumic Double-Sided Gaming Mouse Pad”.
Also curious if using a wrist rest and having my elbow on my chair’s arm rest are bad things.
Its very personal. Arguably best sniper in the game, AnsanSniper, plays at 3200edpi (400x8)
Try starting from that point and then adjusting it lower or higher
See that’s the issue I guess, I’m currently at 1500 dpi. If I had it set to that high my aim would be flailing around and I wouldn’t hit a single thing.
I have issues doing “micro adjustments” or moving my mouse very slowly to hit someone further away as it is.
apparently it should be minimum 800 dpi (something about lower than that makes it stutter or something?) I was on like 450 dpi and 2 sens. I tried using some of the suggested dpi’s people had and even with 2sens it felt crazy fast lol. Idk how they did it with like 5 sens. Now I’ve managed to get to 800dpi with the same sens and I do think im playing a bit better now that I’ve gotten used to it
Oh hang on, let me calculate it then.
So going by what Overwatch uses, and my own dpi.
It’s… 18,000? 1,500x12
And that’s for Ashe, I have it set differently per character.
If I had it at 3200 there is no way in hell I would ever be able to hit someone behind or to the side of me, and would have to pick up my mouse all the time.
Oh wait Overwatch also has “relative aim sensitivity while zoomed” so… idk what to do with that in that case.
I’ll start at 400x8 and go from there, thanks.
Just tried 400x8 on Ashe and even without zooming in, I have to pick up my mouse to aim behind me. Not sure how I would ever effectively move my aim to someone fast enough before dying or they move.
It’s 13.03 x 10.7 inches
Are pros really moving their mouse across the entire space of their giant mouse pad all the time, super fast? Got dam
Is there anything wrong with having DPI and sensitivity to allow me to aim great distances without moving my mouse that much? Not sure my wrist and arm could take doing that so often.
No. They shoot where they aiming, and you can only aim at what you can see. When target is behind somewhere, they just quickly flick (180 rotation) and continue aiming/shooting as normal
Someones mentioned it before, but a good way to start with messing with your sensitivity is to set it so that when you swipe across the full length of your mousepad you do a complete 360. some people even say 180 for a full mousepad length.
You can then fine tune it from there.
Sensitivities that are too high (kinda like yours) result in a lot more wrist aiming rather than arm aiming. Wrist aiming is more susceptible to injury in the long run.
With a lower sensitivity you ideally do large movements with your arm and fine tune with your wrist.
The general starting place for scoped sens is 37.89 (its 1 to 1 at a certain range, whatever that means) and mess with it from there. I find that was too slow so mines upped to 40(ish)
