I used to feel bad for Doomfist players, felt bad that they got treated unfairly, reported just for playing the character and blew up any time they used block.
No longer.
Doomfist players are the some of the worst players I have ever had the misfortune of playing against.
I’ve been trying to get into Doomfist, playing him in OQ to have some fun with a character I never play.
But I can’t.
When I play him and get a kill, if there’s someone on the enemy team who mains him or frequently plays him, they will swap to mirror, target me and get super toxic, frequently tbagging if they kill me, and they will kill me because they hard target me the rest of the match.
This has happened to me 6 times now.
The most recent one, I picked Doomfist at round start. Was doing alright, was actually proud of myself. Did a nice slam over a wall, punched their Ram into the wall and then left clicked him to death. Felt pretty nice.
He immediately swapped to Doom and hunted me down. Got me low and I used slam and punch to escape but he chased me… FAR. When he finally caught up and killed me, he tbagged and sprayed on the ground.
After I respawned and caught up with my team, he immediately swapped to targeting me the second he saw me and combo’d me down in a corner, then tbagged, spammed a voiceline and did a dance emote.
He spammed EZ multiple times on match end and remarked on how I “must be crying after I got thrashed so hard”.
It’s like Doomfist players take great offense that anyone else is even remotely ok at all on the character that THEY main and it hurts their ego or something. It’s becoming a common occurrence and I’m close to giving up on learning the character or playing him at all ever now.
It’s absurd. I don’t know players of any other character that gets this spiteful when they see someone else on “their” character. I have never had this problem this bad until I started playing Doomfist.

No offense intended, but you know what I do when someone counterpicks to Reaper against me and focuses me over actually playing the game? I collect my free win by sending them straight to hell.
That’s what you need, Cobalt. You need to truly learn a character and disgrace all of these weirdos you attract.
I am telling you that one tricking is the way. Flex players are just jealous that we are ten times better than they are at any given hero. It’s all lies meant to hold you back from your true potential.
If you like Doomfist, learn the art of the fist. Take this as a lesson. Consider how they used Doom and implement it into your own style. The next time one of those losers counterpicks Doom, you will be the one spamming, “and dey say, and dey say, and dey say.” I believe.

I will never be as good as someone who mains a character and dedicates tons of time to learning all their techs, watching videos of top players of said character and basically studying them.
I’m mid. I always have been always will be. I just want to have fun on some characters.
I just want to have fun playing a game and not have these super competitive, petty, spiteful players taking offense to me merely existing and thinking they have to “teach me a lesson” and stomp all over me just for playing the game.
I play video games for fun, not to boost my ego. I’m trash at literally everything in real life, games are the only thing I can do.

Of course. I understand that. It was just a suggestion because I see you get focused a lot. So do I, actually.
It is usually stacks for me. I am the only thing standing in the way of their victory because my team is… Busy doing something else. I have learned to be extremely independent as a result of it.
Either way, I, personally, strongly dislike having two or three people swarm me and then BM after I die even if I killed one or two of them. It’s vaguely annoying. You cannot help but wonder, “what the heck is their problem?”
It’s all part of their strategy. They want to get into your head and make you play worse. I find that I crumble like an old cookie if I am on a hero I am not super comfortable with.
I digress, my alternative advice would be to separate the character from the playerbase. Do not let Doomfist players ruin Doomfist for you. I totally get that a lot of them are egomaniacs. But you can be the difference if you wanted. You could be a chill Doomfist.

I also would like to add that even if someone mains your hero, no two mains are the same. There might be a general playstyle but how you use your hero is up to you.
Even with my mains, other players can sometimes surprise me on how differently they play them compared to me.
Also, just because they main a hero does not main they are good with them. You can eventually end up better than them.
I am very sure that is not true, you are just choosing to focus on your negative aspects.

Kinda true ngl. God forbid you play a hero they do not approve of on either team. So many of them start beefs in match chat
It’s not that they ruin the character himself for me, it’s that I cannot play him because they keep swapping to a mirror to diff me and then get super toxic, and yes I am sensitive and that gets to me and makes me play worse, so I feel I’m just better off not picking Doomfist at all.
It’s some kind of assertion of dominance thing for them I guess, and I find that extremely weird and honestly stupid.

I tend to 1 trick the not out of doom.
So I see my fair share of doom mirrors. Wont say this never happens- but I can’t say I feel like it happens a lot in my personal experiences either.
At least not make than I see it happen for any other particular hero.
But I can see why this would be frustrating if that’s what your experience felt like.
refusing to practice because you observe all of the amazing players who put in hours of practice is one of the most asinine things in all of competitive gaming and sports, and it’s so common.
The players who are at the top of the heap are not there because of talent, they are there because of time. Time spent being shamelessly bad, time spent being mid, time spent grinding through plateaus…
If you spend the time you will be one of those players climbing towards the top of the heap.
If you don’t you won’t.

Take it as a sign of respect.
Then pity them for being toxic, terrible people who probably are very lonely and mad at the world for how awful theyve made their own lives.
Then continue getting better with Doom, he is so rewarding to get good with. Plenty of Doom mains are jerks. In this game tho, thats true of every hero. Yes, even the supports everyone cant/wont speak badly of.

I love when a mirror focuses me
tbagging is the only thing that makes me feel anything in OW

Exactly!
This is how I learned a slightly updated J-Rat combo.
Trap → Mine → nade.
Of course, you need to be playing against literal pandas to execute this, but occasionally a Tracer stumbles into a trap and if I’m close enough I go “DIE, HARLOT!”
And I don’t see a lot of other Queenies save their knife and spam melee in between shots when in CQC and Carnage hasn’t charged yet. Proc that bleed, PROC IT!

Ngl, my preferred way to play Doom. Just hang out around slow teammates, or around corners where the payload/objective is, and punchspam.
When you start looking at his slam and punch as movement abilities, and not damage abilities, its actually kinda easy to stay alive and chill. Takes a lot of practice to master his movement in such a way. But still. Its chill

I want to play a video game, not do homework. Video games are supposed to be fun, not something you are required to sink months of work into before you can actually play them. I get you have to sink hours and hours and training to get REALLY good at a character, but I just want to play a damn game and have fun. I could not care less about being “the best of the best” at any character in this game, and I have zero ego.
It didn’t used to be like this, either. You used to be able to pick whoever and have fun in the CASUAL game mode of QP. You can’t do this anymore because it’s been flooded with the hyper competitive toxic sweats coming from comp because they don’t like comp anymore, so they come into QP and then act like this to other people. Back in season 1 or 2 of OW2, I probably would have had lots of fun with Doom without this happening.

I’m sure you aren’t. Everybody has some value they can provide, although it isn’t clear for many because the system pushes everyone towards certain skill sets.
As for doom mains yeah, a lot of us are like that, and it sucks. It’s a major reason why I never liked doom mirrors.

I am. I won’t go too much into it but I am, I have autism. I’m quite literally bad at everything.
I’m especially bad at social interactions, you can see it in almost every post I make on the forums.
I know it can feel that way if social skills are hard, but I’m friends with some autistic people and they’re all very smart. You also aren’t necessarily bad at social interactions, just sensitive.

I never got the intelligence that comes with autism for some. I’m just dumb.
People that aren’t bad at social interactions don’t go to a forum to constantly whine and complain and bash their head into a brick wall of people that don’t care and think it’s funny that you are reacting negatively and want to hurt you on purpose for entertainment.
Idk I think you’re probably being harsh on yourself. The metrics used to judge intelligence by the systems governments put in place are not very good.

Not for nothing, but that doesn’t sound like autism. That sounds like depression. That is tough.
