This has nothing to do with the hero itself, its the people the hero attracts.
I have never met such fragile, toxic, or egotistical players in any other co-op game I’ve played. Not to generalise, but it’s pretty consistently some guy playing/one-tricking Doomfist.
I don’t know if it’s the unapologetically macho personality of the hero that attracts all these insecure men into playing him, or it’s just a coincidence.
If you play Doomfist and you’re a decent person, then !!!
i play doomfist sometimes, I am not a decent person but i do Try
i will say GG in chat and act as if Eveyrhting is fine . but when i hop off the game later that night th3res tears in my eyes . i have Lost my sanity and my will to live playing Tank
I do not get much toxicity from doomfists mains in Europe.
But they are very very stubborn and will bang their head into wall expecting different results.
Holy baguette they are.
It makes sense. They are mostly played by smurfs on their 20th account. They don’t care if they get muted or suspended. They will just switch to their other random smurf.
I have about 140 hours on DF, he’s my most played tank.
He’s very difficult to be good with, and when he gets counterswapped, it is genuinely one of the worst experiences you can have playing this game. Getting cc’d for 10 minutes straight will tilt people. Before anyone says anything, this is specific to DF cuz all his counters are cc heroes.
He’s also a very polarizing hero in general, having stun on a 4 sec cd and all that mobility. Some teammates have cursed me out before even leaving spawn for the 1st time, few heroes illicit such emotion.
He’s just so self-reliant and fun to play. If you’ve never played him well, its hard to communicate just how thrilling his play is.
If we were back in the first few seasons of OW2 then I’d probably agree with you. My experience, though, is that all the weaklings were weeded out, and only true Dooms remain. They don’t complain.
It’s very true to the character, if you think about it.
It doesn’t seem to be the case now, or at least not as much, but mains of DPS doom in OW1 seemed to be pretty consistently toxic towards anyone or anything that countered or even inconvenienced them a little.
Hearing them complain about the size of sleep darts hitbox, while having abilities with hitboxes as large as all their abilities did, multiple of which could be chained together for nearly instantaneous elims, was just… I wasn’t sure whether to facepalm or to laugh at them.
my only problem with doom is when they changed him from a dps to a tank…as a support main, his mobility makes him the perfect dive DPS…even though he’s supposed to be a tank…
honestly, im really kind of curious of what blizzards idea of a “tank” is anymore…because, doom…still plays pretty much like he always has, they just gave him more hit points and defenses it seems…so, does he really even fit into the definition of the tank role?
tanks, in my opinion, are supposed to be in front of the team, soaking damage…doom doesnt really do that at all…
I hear you. Ball can give shields to his team at least now.
That being said, its not impossible to frontline with DF, you just can’t do it for long. I’ve played my fair share of matches spam-punching Rein, and stopping their charge at every chance.
Doom gets focused, that is creating space. Doom is one of the best space creators in the game. Its his fault if he allows himself to get ganged up on when he’s not close to his team.
Teammates need to understand that when Doom gets jumped, thats their que to rush forward. The enemy isnt looking at y’all, move the eff up and engage ffs.
This is sorta why DF rarely ever works out in a poke comp. The team is complaining they dont have a frontline and the doom complains his team isnt playing with him. Theyre both right.
In my experience Mercy players are far more toxic, egotistical and selfish, better not ask them to swap to play a better pick or they’ll go nuclear on you because they take it personaly and feel threatened in their fragile ego.
