Doomfist is actually horrid

Playing more and more this season… it’s just so clear.

  1. Can’t even think about dueling any tank with armor now because he does a solid 5 dmg to them. Like unironically full charge punch, 4 straight headshots and that’s ONLY to break the armor. Let alone in a real match where there’s no guarantee you hit the punch or FULL PELLET HEADSHOTS 4 TIMES IN A ROW.

  1. Everyone’s health got buffed, bunch of heroes got their damage up to compensate. Doom got nothing. He got only his punch buffed (which btw forces punch botting more, thanks blizzard you guys are immensely high IQ) meanwhile, his slam and hand cannon got nothing

  1. Ult is still garbage

  1. Still is just a hero where as soon as you do well for one fight, the enemy team just swaps to hard counters and you can no longer play the game

  1. And even if you do manage to get someone low enough with his lack luster damage, oh look! Lifegrip! Oh look! Immortality field! Oh look! Suzu! Oh look! Literally any mild amount of healing which will most likely just out heal doom’s damage!

Like guys, I’m happy you buffed his shield passive don’t get me wrong. But letting doom live longer, is just letting a doom live longer to do more of nothing. This hero is beyond mediocre, borderline garbage. He has nothing going for him, every other dive tank is just vastly better.

  • Winston has much better survivability and better disruption with his shield.

  • Dva is practically unkillable unless you go 2 specific heroes AND she’s gotten her damage improved in every damage source she has! Rocket boost got more damage, micro missiles got more damage, and her spread got tightened on her gun. Doom got better damage on punch to force the most boring playstyle even more… and that’s it.

  • Wrecking ball has gotten idek how many buffs. I wouldn’t say his damage is better but doom’s damage is hardly better to the point where… you might as well play the hero with better survivability which is clearly ball. He can disrupt and eat cooldowns much better than doom can.

This hero needs help! Nerf punch, get this ability off the main stage. STOP FORCING IT. Stop buffing it, stop making it the main thing about him. You vastly limit anything this hero can do when his only decent damage source is from punch.

Nerf punch, buff his slam, take powerblock out of this hero’s kit.

Powerblock is the most moronic ability in this game. It’s by far the worst tanking ability. Get it out of the game. There’s no reason, the tank hero solely based on fluidity and mobility should have an ability that slows him to a crawl and makes him a free target for CC. It’s stupid. Get it out.

Give him another damage source to get shields with. Or a different defensive ability that doesn’t just scream “Hey guys! I’m right here! CC me please!”.

This character right now is nothing but a punch bot ability baiter. He goes in, distracts, baits out abilities, leaves, and hope your teammates capitalize off of it. It feels like garbage to play. Oh and hope the enemy team is dumb enough to just free farm your empowered punch for some reason, because empowered punch is still doom’s main way of securing kills.

Any value this hero provides is completely in the enemy team’s hands. Do they even remotely fall for your ability bait? Do they charge your punch? Do they remember halfway through the game “Oh! :bulb: That’s right, I can just click H in spawn!”

I have been asking for the same thing for years, maybe it’s insanity, but I’ll keep doing it. Stop forcing punch botting for doom. Make his other abilities useful. Allow the hero to have more than one playstyle that involves just spamming one ability over and over again.

Unfortunately despite your belief he is still one of the most played Tanks right now, as it seems every last game I play in my GM qp games is either Doomfist or Hammond.

I genuinely wish this hero was as dog water as you portray him as, because maybe it would get people off of this character.

Its gotten to the point where I insta swap to Sombra as soon as I die when theres a Ball or Doom. Mind you I despise Sombra, the hero isnt fun, but its even less fun trying to play against a Doom or Ball so I just eat it and ruin their games. This is near every game at this point though, so Im starting to unfortunately get good at this character.

Doom and Hammond dont deserve to exist in Overwatch 2. I am fine enough with them in 6v6, as they would pretty nicely fit the off tank role, but with 5v5 stats and playstyles I will personally remove them from my games.

Nerf them both into irrelevancy I say.

Doomfist has been successful in higher ranks since season 9. Blizzard claims to be balancing around Masters+, which for tank is basically top500. And Doom is well-represented there.

Remember that you are a tank, not a dps. If you feel unable to secure kills on your own, you should work on finding enemies actively taking damage from your dps and hunt them down.

And yet most of the high rank players… place him on the lower end.

Because everyone who knows the game and plays at a high level knows how pointless doom is. You can bring up the whole “remember you’re a tank not a dps” shtick somewhere else because there are a PLETHORA of tanks who do more damage, can secure kills easier, all while having better survivability. So that argument has no place here as it means nothing.

he needs uppercut. honestly at the end of ow1 uppercut was extremely weak compared to what it was on release however if we were to shift that same uppercut to current doom it will probably help with his problem of not feeling smooth and it should not feel oppressive to play against also buff his shotgun pellet speed its ridiculously slow although tbh getting hacked taking a beating for a second then power blocking to safety does feel nice but other than that yeah I do think they should replace block

People win games with him where it matters. That isn’t a “schtick”. And referencing tier lists is pointless. That’s just one person’s opinion. Top500 will tell the truth.

I agree that damage is inflated in the tank role as a whole, which is why I think it should be toned down across the board.

I disagree with the particulars of this formula. I’d advocate for removing the Empowered Punch altogether and raising the damage on regular punch moderately to make it a steadily strong offensive ability, without it being as lethal as the empowered version, or when he was a DPS hero. Then give him a barrier, similar to what his Mirrorverse alter ego had; this will eliminate some of the glaring and rage inducing weaknesses of Power Block, as well as being a welcome addition from the viewpoint of Doomfist’s teammates. Slam could use a small buff in damage, commensurate with the global healthpool increase in S9.

He desperately does not need a shield. The hero needs to either be full offensive or a quick defensive ability he can use on the go.

We need to stop giving the hero who has consistently been all about his mobility and fluidity a defensive ability that completely slows him to a crawl.

Doomfist is doing just fine. He would be disappointed in your inability to adapt to his optimal playstyle.

His optimal playstyle is the single most boring playstyle possible for both sides, that this hero can use.

It’s also the most braindead one possible. He desperately needs a powershift.

Why in the hell would you be going after the tank…. The armor changes don’t affect him much at all unless you’re playing him wrong…

He’s still nearly unstoppable unless you have exactly Cassidy or sombra + Ana, unless your tank goes for him in which case he still has a ton of value just because your tank is focused on him…

A decent doom is capable of ruining an entire lobby.

Surprisingly yes! there are times where you need to shoot the tank as doom!

But the fact that going those heroes is how easy it is to stop a doom is a part of the problem.

Against A.I, yes.

No that’s not insane value from the doom, from getting killed over and over again because the tank also decided to join the counter fest lmfao.

He’s a menace in casual, chaotic environments. He’s pretty doodoo when shown some resistance or enemy team coordination. And yes, he’s terrible at dueling other tanks. Like Ball, his strength is wiping squishies.

Which then also gets stopped by the constant immortalities in the game, the insane healing, and all the boosted HP pools that they just can’t get through.

Which is why the 2 best dive tanks in the game? Nothing to do with killing ability or damage. Dva and winston are the 2 best strictly from survivability.

Empowered punch is so braindead and broken in the way that all it takes is one person to be stupid enough to shoot it and all of a sudden it’s like an unmissable ult of an ability

It’s overpowered, getting punched over and over again is actually the most infuriating garbage ever. Get punched, some freak charges his block, get punched and stunned for even longer and just die

He’s been that way since day 1 in OW1. He’s a hero who has never been able to be effective without cc. He’s never had a playstyle that wasn’t just cheese relying on cc. Of course he’s boring.

That said, he’s consistently been one of the best tanks in the game for nearly all of OW2.

Yep! And that’s his ENTIRE value.

If people don’t shoot his punch? Welp, there goes that.

And the entire gameplay loop of doom just turns into, wait around corner, hold right click, peek around corner, let go of right click, slam out. Because every other ability and damage source is garbage.

And blizzard continues to ONLY buff rocket punch. Slam hasn’t gotten anything the entirety of OW2. In fact, it only got nerfed from the beta to be cosmetic.

Well no. In OW1, doom had the combo which he could use instead of just having to overly rely on punch botting. Was punch botting still the main way because the balance team was garbage back then? Yes. But the combo at least DID something.

Slam is literally cosmetic and just a mobility tool / shield builder. It’s damage is horrid.

With that being said. Midway, I’m not doing this with you again. So you can like ignore any future posts of mine. You’re still wrong months later after still saying this. It’s ok.

I feel so differently about this, because I think Doom is the most overpowered hero in the game. In my games, he has to have multiple people directly countering him or he’ll be able to dive in and get free kills with minimal effort. He has so much mobility and survivability that he shouldn’t be able to do as much damage as he can.

He doesn’t have to fight tanks ever, so it doesn’t matter if he can hurt them. He just has to dive anywhere they aren’t and work for free. If I’m on tank and do anything but directly counter him and chase him around, we lose.
