Doomfists run wild in comp and truthfully they don’t have any hard counters. FitzyHere and Ragtagg (Sombra and Orisa mains respectively) have both stated that they can’t do much about Doomfist despite maining two of his “counters.”
Why? It’s simple. Doomfist’s TTK (time to kill) is so fast that even heroes that “counter” him can’t prevent their backlines from being destroyed. So what makes each of Doomfist’s counters fail individually? Let’s take a look.
Sombra- Fantastic at killing Doomfist, however, they’re both backline flankers, so they rarely even run into eachother normally. You’d have to run Sombra on your frontlines as a Doomfist bodyguard to “counter” him, which requires playing Sombra so sub-optimally that you’d get more value with a Soldier or McCree.
McCree/Brigitte- The stun can be annoying to Doomfist but with his 250 HP and shield passive, neither hero can kill him even if they manage to land the stun. Quite often, trying to stun the Doomfist just ends up getting you killed because you put yourself in range of all his abilities and combos.
Orisa- Can bully the Doomfist with Halt and ignore his combos. However, she can’t kill him fast enough to save a Support if he dives them.
Pharah- Technically, Pharah counters half the roster. But if you compare Doomfist to Tracer/Genji you’ll realize pretty quickly that the high mobility flankers can avoid her damage pretty easily and although they’re not a threat to Pharah, she’s not a threat to them either.
Reaper- Doomfist can stunlock kill a Reaper, but if Reaper baits the abilities with Wraith, Doomfist’s hitbox is a massive target for his shotguns, so it’s an even match.
Right now there’s not much answer to a rampaging Doomfist except praying that your Supports can out position him or use mobility to get away. Hopefully, Hero 29 is a CC counter so Doomfists can be put in check, because I’m tired of watching Doomfist POTGs where it doesn’t seem like there was any counterplay in sight as my Supports got solo ulted or stunlocked
