Doom nerf/change vs other problematic heroes

tracer : unchanged

bap: still has immortality field

zen: still has discord orb

mercy: still has rez and takes almost no skill

hanzo: still spams and 1 shots

widow: still 1 shots

ana: still has anti nade

d.va: still has matrix

but doom needs to be completely turned into a different more boring punch bot hero. can anybody explain this to me? please cite sources, no anecdotal “across all ranks people feel this way” bla bla bla

i dont understand what people like about this game?? the new graphics? newer gamers seem to only care about graphics before they destroy a game like termites and then move to the next one. is the graphics shiny?

I have no problem with Tracer.

My only problem with Bap is that if you play on controller, your reticle goes up as you move when aiming at the IF.

At least in OQ, Zen’s orb could maybe be changed to -10% damage received/ dealth and
-10% healing.

Mercy is meant to be THE support character. Heal/ boost team, she should never be in a position she has to pull out her pistol.

Hanzo as a projectile hero, despite his damage, still takes more skill than most. It doesn’t matter how quickly/ accurately you can figure out where to aim if AA can mess it up in the slightest or if you can’t predict when they are going to move and how. At most ranks, he’s more luck than skill.

Widow is a sniper like Hanzo. She’s hitscan with a scope which is why she doesn’t spam like him. Take away either of their one shots (which almost every shooter out there makes a sniper to the head a OHK as they do), there will be no reason to play them. Widow would need several buffs to her AR and the rest of her kit, Hanzo would need his logs back or a significant increase in ROF/ projectile speed.

Ana’s nade is meant to boost/ deny healing. It’s meant to make saving teammates/ securing kills easier. Hog won’t be a threat if she keeps hitting him.

Dva’s matrix is the only thing that saves her from being deleted before she reaches a close enough distance to shred you with her shotguns/ rockets.

I agree they butchered Doomfist, but my guess is Blizz thought he couldn’t stay a dps due to losing his CC. Funny enough, they didn’t buff his shotgun to be useful beyond 3 meters to accommodate losing 70% of his CC/ damage.

bro… i didnt need to have every single thing explained to me at all… these are all common complaints over the past 4+ years that have not been changed, of course there are ways around them and to outplay them, but the forums has never been concerned with that, just like there is ways to outplay dps doom, but they dont want to learn or improve, they just want it removed. that is my point. i wanna see all the same crying about all these other things til they are removed like they did with doomfikst

Doomfist is fine, also check your grammar.

fine in what way? and to who? are you a ow player who religiously played doom for years? is he fine in the sense of his fun levels currently are good enough that we should forget old doom? what do those 3 words mean? doom is fine?

please tell me how im wrong about how i feel about the hero that I have 2k hours on

Whether people like it or not Doom is doing better as a tank currently than he ever did as DPS. He’ll get tuning every now and then probably but hoping for anything more is dreaming.

what does that matter?

I disagree, it helps save the team from team wipe ults

It’s the only way for his DPS, is there something you would replaced for it?

too elementary to reply to. especially about baps 30 second ultimate.

Doom is better as a tank than he ever was as DPS. A character design that was to abuse glitches in map physics to one shot people was just silly.

What about Sombra? She’s getting completely taken out of the game in her current state when there are other characters doing the same thing freely, and with no repercussions, at that.

The truth of the matter is that survival methods stall the game, but still let people continue playing. Killing methods end the game and further the state of the game. If stuff is too easy to kill, you have nothing to fight. If nothing dies, you can’t make progress.

A great deal of people will continue to have fun even if deaths are denied because you are still shooting, you are still engaged in the game, etc. At some point, the fight needs to end which is why you have 3 DPS and 2 pseudo-DPS on each team with limited stalling resources. At some point, ults come on line and things will die.

Several of the killing methods in the game on many characters are tied to longer cooldowns, very high skill thresholds, etc.

The other truth of the matter is that getting kills on Doomfist was really not that difficult compared to other characters. Aiming is still the hardest skill most people have while most any player can pick up doomfist use his abilities and set-up for very easy dmg and kills.

The hardest thing about Doomfist wasn’t really about killing something. It was killing something and getting away with it.

Cute

Anyway, not many know how to use the ult properly to make it as lethal as you presume. Also, Bap is support-dps, is that a problem?

that isnt even true at all. he was just HARD to play. you did not need rollouts at all to play doom well, you just needed to be smart with flanks and engagements, rollouts were just an art that was amazing and fun to play. this hero is soooooo boring to play. you just punch block slam back over and over. if you argue for tank doom, you do not play doom. or you just simply enjoy something cheap and easy to play

Old doom was cheap/easy to play. That’s what we fixed. His one shot playstyle was boring AF. Removing his one shot was a fantastic idea. It now actually takes effort for him to add value. If it took moving him to tank to do that, then good.

He’s stronger than dps doom but my god is he boring to play and extremely 1 dimensional.

Barely any tech left/no practical uses for it, uppercut was 100x more fun than block to use, indicator slam and slam scaling off rollouts was way more fun than budget winston leap.

They took away everything that made him so unique and fun to play and turned him into a empowered punch bot.

tank doom easier than dps doom ever was. It’s far more straightforward and simple to get value now.

Doom is quite strong right now and yet, people aren’t complaining about him.

That could never be the case in OW1.

Even though he was trash, he was complained about constantly.

He has completely changed and many don’t like that but for the health of the game, the number of people satisfied with the change spans the entire playerbase (people across all ranks feels this way ) and the people unsatisfied with the changes are a percentage of Doom players.

I played Doom as a one trick since release and I think it’s better this way, on balance.

You can complain about old Doom but don’t ever say again he was easy to play

It’s harder to get value now. Before doom just had to memorize stupid rollouts and one shot people. Now he has to actually engage and fight.

There are less mechanics now, but it takes a lot more thought and strategy to get value, which means tank doom is absolutely more difficult.
