This is an unpopular opinion in the tanks community, but for healers, it’s near impossible to play effectively with a hog sitting there with 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, health and hooking and one-shoting us.
As much as I would like for that thing to be removed, I know he is here to stay so…
at least reduce his health and/or revert buffs
As a Hog main right now he is so easy to play if they dont mirror Hog-Zarya. Like theres so many times, even in high GM lobbies, where I can just take an off angle or straight up flank their backline kill a support and escape.

idk why they buffed him in the first place but anyway the biggest mistake i see supports do when i play hog is they try to fight me. All supports except zen have a way to escape stun or sleep him. Use it
Today I encountered a team that ran dive. Hog/Zarya didn’t stand a chance against it. Counters exist but the community isn’t trying to find them

Hog is one of the biggest counters to dive in the game, he literally shreds Winston and D.va, and D.va’s DM has been nerfed so much that she can’t reliably save anyone from hooks.
Just bc someone managed to do it one game in low diamond doesn’t mean it’s a viable strat.
You think GM players haven’t thought of running dive? We WANT to run dive, we’ve been asking for dive to come back for 2 years.
Winston Zarya MIGHT be possible if you’re insane at it, but Hog is just so much more value for easier effort.

Ignoring my competitive rank, I almost completely play organized scrims, so the coordination is a lot higher than your typical ladder game. This happened in a scrim.
You know what happens when D.Va and Winston dive a Hog? And your DPS target whoever the tanks are on? If Hog somehow DOESN’T die then he feeds and skews the ult economy hard.
But far be it from me to question your ladder game with 4 players you’ve probably never met who you have little to no synergy with. Go off
Initially i recall they buffed take a breather with 50% dmg reduction to compensate for his lack of oneshot consistency after they nerfed his dmg. So either they revert that as well or they make him less survivable in other ways. Like nerfing base hp.

Ah yes, that’s why Hog couldn’t counter dive when dive was meta. How surprising that it’s coming from someone with their most played hours on Mercy. Also, you’re Masters and not GM. Night and day difference, so don’t pretend you know what they want.
He is such a horrible hero design. He would need a major rework just to do his role correctly while not being an op dps.
I think they expected it to be a nerf in the higher ranks, and a buff in the lower ones.
It isn’t like the higher ranks were not converting the hooks into kills right? So, the change there is minimal, however the ammo change would be a bigger deal.
In the lower ranks, they didn’t know how to convert the hooks into kills, so… for them, it is a massive boost.
I’m not sure what kind of change it was in the higher ranks, because I haven’t seen it without the shield nerfs, which was 100% a massive buff to Hog.

I’m a tank player and I also get ‘one-shotted’ by Hog. He pulls a tank into his team, and the team finishes them off. I felt like Hog seemed pretty balanced before the recent buffs, and Sigma and Orisa seemed balanced too before their accompanying nerfs. Now Hog just seems like a miniboss in comparison. In addition to the nerfs to Sigma’s shield, Hog’s shield destroying power increased too.
Well, it’s not like they weren’t getting kills, but really it was interactive with the skill of the Hog. Depending on the hero you hooked, you would really have to be skilled with him to confirm the kill. This is what gave it inconsistency.
With this buff, they made it consistent, and as we all know the meta is all about consistency. So when you have a very low chance of not getting the kill in high ranks, even if you aren’t that good with Hog, you can get the kill.
Why is it whenever a tank becomes viable the forums explode to nerf them.
