Symmetra is not a defense hero. She has never been a defense hero. I have over 100 hours as her, and I can tell you, her DPS is trash, and if you try to improve it it will only break her character. I honestly might just uninstall after hearing this. Why would you move her to defense when almost EVERY single Symmetra main wants her to remain in support. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU BLIZZARD??? SERIOUSLY? I’VE NEVER BEEN THIS CONFUSED AND DISGUSTED WITH A DECISION YOUVE MADE.

I’m disgusted because what REALISTICALLY could they change to make her a better damage dealer? Make her autolock have longer range? Make her turrets deal more damage or take more than one hit to kill? That sounds like cancer.
Again, you don’t have any idea what they’ve changed. Maybe wait until you see the rework before you get so worked up.

The only problem here is that ITS A CATEGORY CHANGE! They aren’t nerfing her kit, they are literally just moving her portrait 6 inches to the left in order to more accurately represent her defensive capabilities(turrets to hold a room/point, stationary shield generator to provide a recharging health bar, and a teleporter to help reduce the time it takes to walk from the DEFENSIVE spawn room to the first point.) Mei doesn’t do amazing damage, but she can zone enemies out, prolong engagements on the point, and freeze enemies so allies can hit them more easily, so should she also be moved to the support category? Torb can provide armor, should he be moved? The answer is no.

It’s not even about healing abilities. Except for Symmetra, each of those characters has non-ultimate abilities that directly enhance their teammate in some way or another. Symmetra, as a support, is useless to her team until her ultimate is up. She’s much better suited to defense.

She doesnt offer Sustain so she is not a Support as defined by the rest of the class. Its pretty simple.
Mei doesnt do a ton of damage either, so its fine.

it’s literally just a title change. that’s it.
her character picture just moves to the left during the hero select screen.
i’m honest to god tired of people picking symm and making her our second support and forcing me to solo heal 2 tanks and the rest of the team.

I would usually respond with support=/=healing as Blizzard has said MANY TIMES but I guess Blizzard just betrayed that sentiment as well so I’ll just go ahead and uninstall this game thanks
Disgusted? Seriously? If she keeps everything but teleporter the same maybe this will lead to less people false reporting her in hero select because she’s taking up a slot for that magical perfect mercy pocket. That’s the straw a lot of people clutch at for underperforming while there is a sym present.

I think it would work on defense. Her does in a round about way has healing. Her shield gen REGENERATES her teleporter is like mercy. But her kit seems more for defensive purposes.

the hanzo rework is great… you should be happy that symm gets a rework.
Regardless of what Blizzard has said, the support class is defined colloquially as characters that can heal. This isn’t Dota or LoL where supports can have no healing or support abilities but provide it through items. Either you actively support the team or you should be in another class.
