Don't Listen Too All Of Your Pros and Content Creators

Being a professional doesn’t make you perfect.

Some people occasionally misunderstand the situation, others simply don’t have the same hands on experience, some have a literal explicit or implicit bias that might skew what they prescribe, and then there are some who will purposely push you in a wrong or misleading direction because they have something to gain from it.

I’m certainly not saying to completely ignore “pro opinions” but you need to be aware of who they’re coming from and actually think about it instead of having blind faith.

Nobody should have blind faith, and there is no such thing as being “perfect” but Pro’s and High SR players do have more credibility

“Blizzard, do you want people to plat this thrash game? get Briggite out of it” - Sinatraa
U can check it yourself in the last noob hunter episode.
Samito is the most vocal from the content creators, but his opinion is the same as every other high rated player.
She impacts the game negatively, she has pretty much everything in her kit, and her being at 200 hp won’t make her trash, people just won’t get free value from her as they like to.

It’s the game their careers are based on, you’re probably high or just that dumb.

Absolutely no1 gets paid for saying controversial stuff.

You’re legit making it sound like some cult or something, we’re talking about a game, and the balance of one hero, which every top tier player agrees is impacting the game negatively.

You’ve said this so well.
Imo they are aware they don’t know better, unless they’re THAT dumb, they just want the game to be dumbed down for them because they’re too lazy or simply don’t wanna improve, always bringing the “We are the 99%” argument.

To be fair, BTC just made a video defending Brig. He indirectly called out the likes of Samito that “incessantly whine” about her, insisting that Blizz should stop listening to these people.

yourOW and BTC make forum like takes though lmao

BTC probably has the most linked video on the forums from moira mains using him as a bible like one video he made is proof her beam doesnt lock on despite what you can LITERALLY see in game

Then what was the reason? She isnt a problem anywhere on ladder.

Other that doomsayer E-Celebrities and their bootlickers, no one has said 225 HP Brig is a problem.

There is a difference between factual researching and bad takes.

The hitbox video is not proofless opinions. Its careful research made by OTHER people and BTC only made it into a video.

Also its a factual video, visual animation doesnt equal mechanic. If it was an actual lock-on like Sym 2.0 or Mercy’s primary, Blizz could have never been able to nerf its beam radius. The reason they gave her the visual of a lock-on beam was to convey the ‘‘succ’’/leech/lifesteal effect that a Zarya beam cant convey.

BTC didnt magically fake in-game tests that you can easily replicate on training grounds lmao

I don’t know if you understand the context of my comment, but I don’t agree with Brig’s nerf

honest opinion people that say brig is too weak need to understand its not the 200hp thing if your having a bad time with brig most likely its your team not working with you properly and also i was in moira jail for a long time and i can say that moira needs some changes to make her fair she is lowkey kinda too strong like she should not be able to get pharah from the skybox and damage needs to be changed

i missed the orb at the end

They can just move on to any other game, like many already have.

There’s absolutely no reason to assume they have to stay exclusive to Overwatch for the rest of their lives.

Controversy gets clicks. It gets views. It gets comments and likes and debate.

The more this happens, the more exposure you get, and then even more people see it and start weighing in.

And for every view a big creator gets, they get money in their pocket from things like ad revenue.

If you live off of the money you earn from making videos, and want to maximize that money, topics that get people talking about you is easily the best way to do it.

It sorta is ngl

Your leader says something, and you blindly repeat it with no reason other than “they said it so it must be true.” Then if someone questions it, instead of talking about facts or logic, you guys go straight for the personal insults for no reason other than to show the other person is lesser than the one you follow.

Looks like a goat, sounds like a goat, its probably a goat.

(And because I know someone’s gonna get upset over it, I should point out thst I’m using “you” figuratively here. I don’t know nor do I care if it applies literally to you, just making a point)

The point is there’s more to game design than simply playing games. There’s a lot of intricate factors at play that many content creators or pro’s don’t take into account.

An easy example is the Mercy rework. There were a good number of people pointing out how bad the initial balance was for her, how OP being able to tempo res so often would be.

But all the high tier players just laughed and celebrated “the death of the witch” and mocked everyone else for being a “one trick that would fall back to bronze now that their hero actually took skill.”

The result? The single worst, most oppressive, and most blatantly OP hero this game has ever seen. Then everyone went all shocked punchy face when they saw a Mercy in literally every game.

Pro’s are human too, and humans have bias. They’re not some infallible gods that always know better than the masses. Ya’ll just don’t care because their biases happen to agree with yours.

i wouldnt assume a devs goal is to make the game healthy its to make the games longevity last so basically tricking angry players into coming back or staying cause of a change works. and pros are biased to who they play. samitos main thing is how much he hates brig (like a lot of pros) however hes a doomfist so of course he wants her to stay unviable bc brig counters doom

also he’s been played brig pretty long in contenders if i recall. DOn’t call dedicated players biased, or not worthy oppinion, cause we don’t have another option for real.

Excuse me? You’re seriously comparing playing a video game to medical school (which takes way longer than he’s even played this game anyway)? Seriously. That’s an insult to doctors.

Never seen a doctor act like a manchild the way Samito does on a daily basis

it seems that they exist today, in and out of the game

I don’t even know how to define it, idolatry or alienation

I think what your trying to say is we should be listening to good doctors about medicine. What if I don’t think certain OW pros are good doctors? Should I still listen to them?

I mean to be quite honest, and to play Devil’s advocate despite largely agreeing with you, some surfaces in this game are really wonky. But most times, yeah, you can predict where it’s going

Its a relative scale…

Its like Owl pros are doctors and contenders is medical school, its not actually meant that way

Relative scale, right… meanwhile, it takes at least 10 years to become a fully licensed doctor. Compared to playing a video game for 4 years? Not even close to being comparable. There isn’t that much knowledge in the game, even though there is quite a lot comparably to other shooters, it’s more learning player habits anyway and making yourself numb to the various interactions to keep a cool head while you play.

Pretty much anyone plays way better when playing with a fairly consistent group of players on their team - but there isn’t really a system integrated in Overwatch that encourages that kind of thing and is more accessible. :woman_shrugging:
