I just looked at the leaked skin and while the tips of the dreads are burning it still doesn’t look quite right. Like you said it looks a little too much like concept Lucio’s hair/bandanna combo.
This fan concept looks so much better.
This blizzard skin looks bad in comparison.

First of all, that skin looks amazing I can’t wait!
As for the thread, a bandana and/or dreadlocks have been frequently used on depiction of pirates, I don’t feel like it should be a hairstyle unique to Lucio, just like I don’t think if any skin got a ponytail it’d be ripping of hanzo.
If you don’t like it visually or think it’s culturally inappropriate that’s down to personal opinion which I respect but disagree with. There’ll be a group of people offended by it but that’s to be expected in 2018.
Hookfoot pretty bizare but fits with junk’s character. It’s obviously impractical but looks pretty cool

Polish Plait is completely different kind of hairstyle.
Also, it’s linked with a condition called Plica Polonica which is something you really don’t want (it can literally kill you).

Junkenstein, Cricket and Beachrat w/e have unique voice lines even.
To think that it took them half a year to put voice lines in Symmetra’s dragon skin while Junkrat had his upon release says much about the attention he gets. Not liking them is a personal opinion but that doesn’t make them low quality. I bet the new one will have the same treatment

Braids. African hair coils into dreads naturally, along with sub cultures like afro-latino, etc. Anyone who doesn’t have african hair that coils like that has to gain it in unnatural methods.
Anyway, I don’t think this hair suits him at all. A little saddened.

I don’t like all the green on his skin, but that’s complaining a bit too much I’ll admit. I feel like they could’ve done so much more with his design. He’s a “captain” (boss), he looks like he should have scurvy, he’s a powder monkey, and he loves treasure! His entire personality is lacking in this skin and I was really looking forward to it from the moment I saw Roadhog’s pirate skins since the two of them combined could’ve told a cool story/power dynamic.
These are my thoughts. But really, the only thing that bothers me the most would be the lumpy awful white people dreads that seem to soak up his entire face.

At the risk of veering off topic I still feel like this misconception has to be pointed out.
“Natural” dreads are not a phenomena isolated to people of African decent. That is simply not true and a stereotype.
Also, my point about them being braids was that the poster in question implied dreads are not braids while the actual definition for them states otherwise. It was meant to be tongue in cheek.
This notion that somehow dreadlocks are unique to black culture and people of African decent is a very modern, very PC-oriented notion. Its pretty clear by description that they were common amongst even white tribes and cultures in the ancient world.
We could likely go back and forth all day though and not change each others’ mind, so I am willing to agree to disagree. If I dont respond again, its to keep from veering even further off topic and not meant as a sign of disrespect or ignoring your points; its just that we may have reached an opinion / ideological impasse.

They probably wanted to add in the whole pirate hook thing but it’d be too weird to skin with his weapon so we got “zany pi-rat with a hook for a foot bc he’s so wacky”
It doesn’t matter if he doesn’t have the right hair texture. It’s a skin.
