🔌 Don't Get Spectrum's Internet

Often times I thought, man this internet sucks. I decided to switch to the only other option, Time Warner Cable (Now Spectrum) and by far was it the WORST decision of my life. Constantly my internet stops working and shuts off for no reason, and I can’t fix it. Decided to call up their for help, and guess what? Spectrum employees come over and make the internet EVEN WORSE.
I’ve legit DC’d like 6 comp games ALONE because of this trash cable internet provider.
SO WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GET SPECTRUM INTERNET! IT IS JUST A WASTE OF YOUR TIME AND MONEY

As someone who worked for charter (Now spectrum) and Time Warner Cable (now spectrum) and who currently has service from them I can honestly say I have had only three issues in over 15 years.

Internet service is very sensitive to signal problems and can be a bit of a pain to address. Especially if its an intermittent issue that is hard to track. Not to mention all the equipment that could be causing the problem.

Sorry you are having trouble but I think you may be over reacting a little.

I can whole heatedly agree, in fact they are getting kicked out of NY right now because they lied about what internet speeds they could provide. Very dodgy and unreliable. I hope people see this thread to avoid them!

I was going to swap to Spectrum as Verizon was getting very complacent in my area.

One thing led to another and I didn’t switch out of laziness, then I found out it was Time Warner in another skin and facepalmed really hard.

American ISP’s are such a damn embarrassment.

i only ever had one issue with charter when it comes to gaming, usually any problems I have can be fixed by restarting my router…

For me and hundreds of other people we constantly get network outages daily like 30-40 times a day no exaggeration either

It depends on your area and how up to date their technology and speeds are. My Spectrum has been good to me but would some times dip on internet speed.

Now that I have moved into a house and wealthier area faster spectrum speed and no outages

I’ve got Spectrum and it’s fine. Switched from CenturyLink (which WAS terrible XD) a year ago and it’s the best thing I ever did.

How good or bad your ISP is greatly depends on the area you live, though. I mean, the workers in different branches don’t all share the same intelligence or qualifications. Not to mention some places have old equipment, etc.

Sorry you’re having issues, though. It definitely is stressful, especially for gamers. :frowning:

I’m surprised because my friend has spectrum and we both liked it. Never dropped connection once while we were using it. She’s in NY for school.

Both of us have Xfinity back home though and to say that we absolutely freaking hate it would be an understatement. It’s such a garbo company with garbo service. But its also the only ISP in my area so we’re kinda screwed.

God, same. XD I raided in WoW on dial up. Fun stuff. lol

I get so many outages with Charter/spectrum. They’re really pathetic service for paying WELL for supposedly “high speed internet”. And if you call customer service they will never admit it’s them

The one thing I always want to point out is investigating why disconnections happen. It is important to consider factors involving your own equipment (Computer, Router, cables, wireless, etc.), the Internet Service Provider, the network routing partners for your ISP (Level3, etc.) and of course Blizzard’s Network. With Overwatch, one can run a WinMTR test to truly point out where a disconnection is occurring, especially if you are not disconnecting from other internet services.

I’ve used Spectrum for several years now, and they generally do pretty well. I will say that over the past month or so, they seem to have had a lot of issues, though. I assume it’s something local to my area, but it’s very frustrating. That said, when it’s not cutting out every other hour, I do consistently get 120 Mbps without Ethernet (200 Mbps with, give or take a little bit). I also get a pretty good deal from them, so it makes the outages a little more tolerable.

I have AT&T’s gig internet and have been happy with it. Charter/BrightHouse/TW and Spectrum suck.

back when i was at my parents’ the spectrum net would occasionally drop, it got really bad at times. however at my new place i haven’t had any problems so far with spectrum, wonder if location had something to do with it.

I have (charter) Spectrum now. I get lag sometimes, but I figure it’s my brother doing something. I wish I had better internet (my uni’s internet is really good) but it’s really area-dependent.

We have it, and its much, much better than my sisters internet provider. Hardly have issues with it.
