The developer update, while long overdue, might not be what we were expecting. I’m just saying don’t get your hopes too high to the point where you’re frustrated if something isn’t addressed.
Remember that the Overwatch team has basically focused on the OWL and they obviously can’t get to everything at once.
While I know that they haven’t put 100% focus on the league, it seems that most of the resources that could’ve gone into better balancing and game changes have been to the league.
it isnt a seems, literally one of the devs commented in an interview and said ‘we put a lot of manpower from the ow team into the owl team’. There is no maybe, or seems, it came directly from a dev, and they wouldnt want to admit that sort of thing unless it was the truth
I don’t agree with this. Aside from the initial start of the inaugural season, the OWL is now self-sustainable. They don’t need Blizzard developers and designers anymore.
I don’t really know what to believe anymore honestly. The truth is we don’t really know how the devs were involved with OWL or if some of them still are
This, and maybe, maybe some hint at Hero 29 and the possible social feature. I think cautious skepticism is currently warranted for dev updates, much less optimism.
i wouldnt say skepticism, id say full out pessimism, what have they done in the last 4 months that warrant anything but it, even the newest cinematic was a major failure in comparison to even the soldier cinematic. A good cinematic but sooo not blizzard quality outside of the animation
inb4 the social feature is just more ways to avoid
without expectations, monthly active users will continue to decrease at a faster rate. and that’s what consumers of the game will hold on to; hope for a better game. transparency in their direction and provided logic for their updates would help, but the overwatch stalwarts will be in the dark for another month a half. i acknowledge the elite focus, but the average joe may feel alienated and just spend their time elsewhere, while making yt videos that hurt the game’s reputation. i’ll wait and see. a faster decline post-announcement may force their hand, so i’m prepared for either outcome. the ball is in their court for now
