I own a pair of Corsair Void headphones and there is an button in the ICUE software for them that says “Dolby Headphone”
In the audio options for Overwatch i can enable Dolby Atmos. when i do this it says “Regular stereo headphones required for this option. For an optimal experience, toggle off and 5.1 or 7.1 options in your headphones drivers.”
So my question is, should i turn off the Dolby Headphones option in my ICUE, which turns my headphones to stereo and turn on the Dolby Atmos option in Overwatch?
Or should i turn them both on?
Do they interfere with eachother?
On the should you or shouldn’t you?
I honestly use both with my 7.1 headphones, it just makes the game very bassy and makes footsteps more audible, but it’s noticeably less clean than the normal soundscape.
Just give em a try in a few different ways and see what you end up liking.

I have it turned on ingame for my sennheiser game one.
(i’m using also one of sennheiser’s headset amplification devices) the gadget is set to 7.1
But i’m not running any enhancement software
I recommend You test it in practice range and go with the options that sound the best for you.

Usually these works best, if you turn off the icue version and turn on the ingame one.
You can think it as that iCue general jack of all trades type of thing, on 97% of cases it works just fine, but some stuff might not work perfectly.
The ingame stuff is built just for that game only, thus everything works perfectly (in theory that is).
Then again, it might be a hassle switching stuff on and off, so the iCue might be the best and laziest option.
yeah no, The only thing that makes footsteps more audible is EQing up you highs and reoving low end. Stereo has the best imaging possible and every surround soudn feature takes away from imaging.
I think linus did a video on this. Of course a good speaker setup might be better than headphones in stereo but i havent tried that yet.
you can test it yourself, turning dolby atmos off makes the directional sound way more clear. It is a bit less immerdive tho, as the sound has less reverb and i think has more bleed over from the left to the right channel

Nothing should be used except “stereo”.
Anything else just ruins the sound.
