In lower ranks? I play as DPS in plat currently (but am slowly ranking up) and was wondering what to prioritize for myself and teammates: playing heroes we’re good with, or heroes that we’re decent at but fit better with the ideal comp we need to beat the enemy team. Thanks in advance!

In lower ranks team comp definitely does not matter, it’s best to play what you’re most comfortable with. Even in higher ranks it’s better to have people play the hero/heroes that got them to gm even if it doesn’t fit the team comp perfectly.

What would you consider to be the line between “low” and “high” ranks? I feel like diamond is the first “high” rank, but I’m not too sure (once I reach diamond I’ll probably consider masters to be the first high rank lol)
Hmm I think thats probably an opinion that may vary between players but I would say for the majority of the playerbase, Diamond is the first “high” rank because a large majority of the player base is in gold and plat. Diamond is when you hit above average status.

Depends on your skill with the other heroes.
If you have hardly touched other heroes you will probably do better just playing your main than a hero which you have no idea how to play.
It definitely does and you can win there with just by having a decent comp alone due to the general lack of skill.

Nah, pretty much all heroes are equal in the ranks that matter

Depends. Team comp matters if you can’t out skill the enemy team and their counter swaps.
You can get away with playing into your worst counters if you’re good enough.

Usually you can play whatever you want. But certain maps and matchups you will need to be ready to switch.
Because no matter how good you are their value against you out weighs your strengths.
If they have a decent widow or Pharah on a vertical map your Junkrat skills ain’t going to do much even if you play out your mind with 80% accuracy.

It generally doesn’t matter but if it’s a favorable map for their comp and you’re on some abomination of lw mercy you will lose if both teams are equally skilled
always play whatever makes sense to you in the moment. whether its comfort, draft analysis, something new youre practicing whatever.
however if you can synergize with your allies, you will be rewarded 100%. when your choosing what heroes to practice, its worth choosing the heroes to fit in a few of the main situations. if you can pay attention to and follow up on your winston’s dives, winrate will 
. but its just a skill like aim or positioning or any other.
and you dont have to necessarily pick a perfect comp, some heroes are flexible and can be played w/ many styles to fit different teams, (lookin at u tracer!)
and some teammates are too bad to be worth synergizing with, this is just a truth. you dont see the mercy pocketing bottom frag for very long do you.
