genuine question cuz its unreal to be playing stadium, your whole team is doing well except the ashe who buys Amari’s Antidote and is running 60% extra ammo with an AP build.
It’s not EOMM because you’re clearly not engaged, which is the point of EOMM in the first place. Stadium uses really loose matchmaking and the competitive version’s rank system doesn’t use ELO rankings, mainly engagement-based ones with wide grouping.
i mean what i noticed is that i went from rookie to allstar on zen with 30 games, 22 won.
and the games at the start where easier than at the end but i still felt like the game wanst putting me against my skill level for way too long. i dont exactly understand what the goal is here. the rank is completely detached from the mmr here and it doesnt really make sense to just grind very slowly increasingly harder enemies and need an obligatory amount of wins to cimb to allstar where the proper “ranked system” then begins bc before that i didnt even lose points for my losses.
This whole game uses EOMM. Even in mystery heroes lmao.
I’m no Blizzard shill, they owe me an entire account they took from me, but for all the shady things they do I genuinely don’t think OW has EOMM, look up the Spilo interview with the OW matchmaking system devs. I’ve also bought skins and gone on loss streaks then set the game down for a week, and that’s exactly the problem EOMM was made to fix.
Even if they were lying through their teeth in the interview (which I doubt given the level of detail they went into), why then are so many in the OW community so angry at the matchmaking system all the time? The point of EOMM is to keep players engaged (Engagement-Optimized MatchMaking) and playing more. If EOMM was real, you’d be in a blissful blue pill illusion. SBMM is the gritty red pill reality, even if their system isn’t perfect (stacks grouping up, wide matches in QP, etc).
The devs say win/loss streaks following each other are the result of getting lucky/unlucky and rising/falling above/below your actual skill level until you stabilize.
No it doesn’t
Any system that would purposely throw you awful matches is only going to lead to the opposite of engagement - not wanting to play anymore
Random forum user “I am having a terrible experience in (mode)”
Must be EOMM
Because pissing you off is optimised engagement?!!!
Im not sure but the Stomps in Stadium aka Stompium are really bad. I think the MM needs a rework for Stadium.
I forget that the Overwatch community doesn’t really know that much about Marvel Rival’s jokes, because the implication of saying “does this use EOMM” is that the Ashe player was the EOMM agent that got put into my team’s game
Well its kinda like League, once one team gets far ahead, they dominate the rest of the match. The difference is that Stadium has a “casual ‘ranked’” mode thats called competitive but you still can get All-Star by doing basically nothing the whole time. So instead of actually competitive matches, you get worst stomps and wide matches
or in my case, an Ashe player who must have been their first time playing stadium with whatever the heck they were building.
And again you’re wrong. Nice try with the misinformation though
You got that slightly in reverse. There are visible ranks like Rookie, Elite, Pro, etc. and they are not used for matchmaking purposes; they’re just there as a progression metric. Underneath the hood, however, there’s an ELO-based rating system that is used for matchmaking, just like in the main game modes. This is why we often see lobbies filled with players whose Stadium ranks don’t make sense to be in the same match if the matchmaker used these ranks to fill the lobby. Hence the common notion that the matchmaking range is so wide that there might as well not be matchmaking in this mode.
Of all the modes, I get the sense that Stadium doesn’t use any kind of MM. They just toss whoever in there and let you brawl it out.
