I tried getting into stadium last night and played like only 3 games. It seems like the mmr is completely reset because I’m still in the lowest rank and the players seem like absolute wood tier gamers. I don’t want to sound mean but I haven’t seen players this bad ever before to the point where I thought I was playing actual bots. Did they do a full mmr reset for stadium because these feel like legit bronze 5 players.
They lied, as usual. Even Flats called them out on this one. To their face. Kind of G.

So it is a full reset? Because one of the games had a S76 who was a just a statue most of the time Lol.
Stadium’s MMR is a total blank slate. We all start from 0, and honestly it kinda sucks hard. Like I’ve faced opponents and had teammates that should be insulted by me being included in the match, at other times I’ve had games where I could go AFK and my team would still win.
My biggest complaint by far is Stadium not importing anything to act as a frame of reference for matching, it leads to some wonk matchmaking and it really kills the fun of the mode.

yeah this confuses me too. It’s not like this is a whole new game or anything. I guess I’ll just have to grind it until I get to my normal rank 
hmm I guess I’ll see when I play more tonight. It just seems odd because again i never experience games like that before. Maybe it was just a rare thing.

I only did 2 games day 1. First game was high diamond average, second was masters average. Most people had open profiles. So it certainly was using some mmr, not just randomly having everyone at the bottom.

I can’t figure out what the system is for Stadium. Imo the matches are all wide and it prioritizes que times more than anything else. I solo que most of the time at Pro 5 and last night I had a new soldier on my team. First two rounds the guy did a total of 700 dmg (combined, between both rounds), and the tank tilted and tore into him. I told the guy to go hug his squishmallow and chill out.
I get the tank’s frustration (no idea what rank he was), at the same time it’s not the new guy’s fault he gets dumped in a lobby like that.

They said so, but I had many games that our team has gold/silver player, while the enemy team had master-t500 players…Those games are completely waste of time.

You got lucky lol, I had many games that had players from silver to gm and even t500…Could be the 20min que time tho. Once reaching pro5, the que time become much longer.

There are other problems with Stadium that results in those crazy games that technically have nothing to do with MMR. There are no grouping restrictions, for instance. And then you have literally no loss penalty for two ranks, inflation for a few, and then deflation thereafter. It’s all to drive engagement, but it comes at the cost of match quality. Even the intent of the mode is not entirely clear. It’s competitive but trying to attract arcade players. That notoriously created discrepancies long before Stadium was a sparkle in Aaron Keller’s kid’s eye.

Precisely. If it’s going to toss me in a game with newer players versus a 4 stack of organized sweats then at least give us an adjusted loss.

After finally playing Stadium and blowing through the first 3 ranks in a day; No one knows how to build. People in low ranks have me feeling like Einstein with my actual builds lol
No, I’m not copying anything (as far as I know) I’m just using stuff the stacks well.
At low ranks, most people are pulling from the example builds or just trying new things (there’s gotta be a place to try new builds)
Also no. Stadium has completely new MMR it is using. So this first season really do be kind of free for all. Especially since you can group up with any rank in Stadium. [insert streamer] could play with you in this mode, even if you are rookie and they are master or whatever the high rank is called.
