By solo queue I mean a queue without groups. A queue without a group less than a full team.

I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t.
You would hope so but the problem is… Overwatch playerbase is at the lowest it has ever been. This is the fairest way to create a proper team. In Overwatch 1 I wanted this so badly, to not be the solo queue player tagging onto a 5 stack.
Never happened in Overwatch 1, lets hope it does for Overwatch 2 (1.1)
How so? I am not following.
I really hope so, then maybe I would return to competitive if there was a solo/duo queue only ladder ![]()
Fair point. The duos should be eligible to enter the solo queue. Too much colorful language in voice chat, and a buffer is a good solution.
Because then you don’t get any stacks, you get 6 individuals that have to work as a team from the start. It is completely random and everyone gets the same experience, not a 5+1 vs a 2+2+2 or whatever garbage way Overwatch puts together the teams.
There is a reason why Blizzard no longer show you the groupings in competitive… because they are unfair, so they hide it.
My bad. I understood you as wanting a solo queue and defending the OW1 approach (with groups).
Highly doubt it. That would reduce stomps, and stomps encourage alts.
But with OW2 being free to play and OW1 granting certain platforms free accounts, isn’t that point moot?
Maybe. They might limit the amount of alts if their whale skins don’t turn a substantial profit.
would be nice to have dedicated solo, i suppose it comes down to it they can fix the supply and demand of roles by making them more appealing
can’t decide if dedicated solo would be the “purest” form of ranked, or the biggest clown fiesta… prolly both lol
There is no way they will introduce a solo only queue. They want to keep the game open for groups of any size, and in order for that to happen they need solo players to fill in the extra spots. The 5 player team size makes it even more awkward for group queues because 5 is not divisible by 2 or 3. A 4-stack or 2x 2-stacks will require a solo player to fill them out
