There has been a debate going on on whether alot of heros mostly supports take Skill. The most common focused hero on this topic is Mercy.
There are two sides to this argument well Mercy has an autolock for Healing and Damage Boost and the other side is well Mercy is so much more in depth than what alot of people give her credit for.
Lets Look in to it!
Mercy is a character by Overwatch “Meant To Be A Starter Hero” along with Reaper and Soilder 76 with Reinhardt.
However does that Mean Mercy Takes no Skill well let’s find out.
While Mercy Doesnt have any real Mechanical Skill with Her Staff as it is an autolock. Her skill lies within Guardian Angel.
Mercy’s Guardian Angel has the most tech in the Game with Wrecking Ball being a close second. But then you could say you dont need them and you’ll do just fine without them but However try playing Mercy with no tech including the slingshot or bunny hop. Then there is another question if Mercy dosent need it than does anyone need their tech.
You could Say well the tech is easy to learn and she still has an autolock. This simply put it is not true. There is many tech out there that many people have no clue about which is explained by This Video.
Does Mercy take Skill? The answer to this is Yes! With A Character who probably takes the most Gamesense and Positioning with Characters like Ana and Her Tons of tech that she tou can learn that are very difficult. Mercy takes Skill. You also have to manage who to heal and how long to heal and who to res and who not to rez. There is also a ton of evidence Of Pro Players and content creator like Neptuno, Stylosa, Samito, Kruise and much more that states Mercy is one of the most complex characters to Master and Play at a high level and that they respect Mercy Players. Remember this is not 2017 Mercy and Mechanical Skill is not the only skill because of it was We would not be saying Reinhardt takes Skill now would we. Mercy may not be all about shooting the bad men, but this is not a tactical shooter.

I’d ask anyone who says she doesn’t to tell me why? Because outside of aim (which she can actually need sometimes too) she needs every bit of skill that every other character needs too.

This isn’t a bad thing to have. You don’t NEED to require skill. You atleast need to have IQ and understanding of the game, so it’s not like she’s just a walnut running around.

I’d say even with how easy she is to play, since she’s a single-target healer who also has damage boost (but not simultaneously), at the very least she requires good decision making.
For example, the decision to switch to Ana.

I always admit how easy she I’d and how hard she can be but when people say stuff like look at this no brain Mercy Pmayer who plays a hero with an autolock and takes zero of the games fundamentals and shouldn’t be in overwatch it is extremely disheartening
still takes a lot less skill in those aspects than characters like ana, mccree and in mechanical skill falls behind lucio

It’s called game sense.
Skill is not just how well you can shoot the bad men.
Probably not skill, but a lot of intelligence and game sense if you want to rank up. Every time I see a GM + Dps pick her up, they get wasted.
