I don’t think McCree needs anything gigantic, but I can’t help but feel like he’s falling behind, especially with the quad tank meta coming up. He certainly had enough damage, but roll is very underwhelming for its cooldown and flashbang is very inconsistent. It also doesn’t have enough stun time to land 2 headshots unless you shoot the millisecond you stun. Maybe he should have some cooldown reductions? Or maybe make flashbang more consistent than it is. Maybe make it stop all movement altogether instead of slow it.
It would be great if they remove this huge, sunlike glow he has when ulting.
That would be enough for me.
Mccree doesn’t need a direct buff. You could add on 5 damage to his primary fire to make it 75 to better deal with Tracer, but right now he’s better than his counterpart Soldier: 76, and buffing flash would likely make him too strong.
McCree is pretty strong and widely used in the higher end of the game, buffing him would probably take him a little out of hand. He is perhaps a little weak at low end, but then so is Tracer and a couple of others who similarly don’t really need buffs.
I like McCree’s kit, but I just wish they gave Roll something extra. The ability just looks and feels so outdated.
I don’t think McCree needs a big buff either. But flash could use more consistency. It’s not very fluid to use. It also doesn’t come out too quick, so if tracer is smart. She’ll stay out of your range or just blink around unpredictably.
Jeff had a simple answer to that on old forum

Oh, yes! Flashbang is so wonky to use sometimes. It feels unreliable sometimes.
That’s not answering my question. That’s McCrees gun, which is fine.
i am pretty sure nerfing Genji and Tracer will put a lot of the other DPS back in line.
I think adding a slight cool down reduction to his roll/ giving his roll more distance would be nice. Flashbang is hard cc and should be kept the same.
I’m not a great McCree player, but I’ve always felt his Roll ability is weird and counterintuitive. In other games rolling is a movement ability, but for McCree it’s for reloading his gun.
I think some minor buffs to his ultimate could be good. Other than that I don’t think he needs anything major.
Yes
A larger radius and a shorter distance. This will affect his relationship with flankers, but will not affect other heroes. Except perhaps Rein, but he is already in a bad position, so that small buff will not hurt the game.
Yeah on a more serious note, probably. I have always had tough times following up on the ting on head after successful flash bang on genji.
- it is hard to do it on heroes like Genji cuz you have to make sure you do it without it getting deflected back at you.
and whenever you do it, it still is hard to hit them cuz they kinda end up somewhere else due to mobility.
I wouldnt mind buffing this because good players will anyway have the skill to hit the headshot even when heroes like Tracer/Genji ending up somewhere else than the point of contact with flashbang. Probably would make him more usable at low ranks.
he had his time in the sun . if the meta changes I’m fine with some heroes stepping down.
maybe flash bang blinds the hero affected by it
They should get rid of Fan the Hammer and give him something there.
Here’s the word you are searching for: Tweaks
Here are some tweaks that might affect his gameplay but not change dramatically his state.
- Enable roll while Jumping: It becomes more like a dodging ability than a reload if he is able to change from his jumping state to crawl that fast. Also, it will embed some uncertainty upon the final position (like jump blink), which will increase his flashbang threat area without even changing flashbang.
- His flashbang range is fine: It just needs to stop pass through targets without hitting them. That’s not a problem to higher ranks, but there’s a really slow learning curve because of this. I cannot really see the reason of having a slow curve in an ability like this.
- His initial decay seems fine: While his initial damage decay range seems fine, it becomes silly when it comes to really long distances.
Tbh as a Mcree main myself as much as I hate going into deathmatch and getting flash fanned by plats who genuinely rely on it (I wonder why I even get matched with lower elo people in arcade anyways)
It doesn’t need to be removed. Flash headshot headshot is almost never not the better choice, but removing the crutch for lower tier players might be bad for the game…
I mean, Hanzo issue many lower tiers say they have (I was there before myself so I know the feeling) might become worse now that scatter is being changed or replaced
I, myself, just absolutely hate being flashbanged FtH, it is a little similar to scatter for me, except McCree is vulnerable. There’s just nothing I can do if I’m stunned.
