Dude, that “chosen one” thing is half the roaster in this game, and most games, and most media…
I like how she says the’s cooking cuy for dinner when eliminating Hammond. In Perú we call guinea pigs cuy(es), yes people eat cuy like chicken in the andes part of Perú. And yeas we know hamsters aren’t guinea pigs, it was a joke that we all knew was coming.
She says that it doesn’t matter now as in “I can’t undo what happened but what I can is do what would make them proud”.
Also they didn’t “sacrifice” themselves,it was a freak accident,no one was supposed to die, everyone was there for ceremonial reasons.
Excuse you, Reaper has more scope in his grunts than Sojourn does in five hundred lines of dialogue. He’s a camp, card-carrying evil, sarcastic edgelord princess who dresses up like the grim reaper and throws guns everywhere. You don’t have to like the flavor but if you think it’s bland, you need a covid test.
Personality? It’s barebones. Lore? Eeeeeeehhhhhhhhhh… it’s Overwatch. We’ll have to wait until - at least - they publish some comic about her on Twitter, or they make a CGI Short of her in about 5 years from now.
Again, let’s be clear: it’s Overwatch we’re talking about. This game is the least developed Blizzard ever put out when it comes to fleshing out characters. There’s more perceptible character personalities in Heroes of the Storm and I’m not even exaggerating.
She blames herself for the deaths of people that she admired or liked. Whatever the cause and details surrounding it she puts heavy emphasis on it being her own fault. She puts a lot of self emphasis on individual empowerment. This last part I feel drives most of her interactions.
She has a sense of superiority to others and sees flaws in others for possibly not being strong enough. Some might see this as a contradiction, but I’d say it makes sense. She values individual strength/skill I’d say, but does not put many on a pedestal easily. I’d almost say she might have valued her peers as teachers and possibly the best. Having been involved in their deaths somehow she doesn’t have anyone she admires I’d say. Therefore, has little respect for others. Even Ana hearing about her being the best seems to taunt Ana with the remainder she got bested one time.
Illari is alone and possibly feels only herself to rely upon. Though seems to maybe detest when she fails. Some of those perfectionist qualities. Rarely cheery since it seems she internalizes most of the actions.
Illari simply seems to have become bitter in life at this stage. She might change or we find out she had a different personality in the past. Everyone is different and people go through different transitions in life based upon the experiences they have.
There are several voicelines about wanting to help others and protecting them, but has little patience for people wandering off going about killing themselves doing stupid things.
The Chuno voicelines are interesting because she has a Llama and therefore probably cares for them, but the kicking his butt if he doesn’t miss her shows a side of her that is a little egotistical. Which again all falls back to the air of superiority she seems to have over others in her viewpoint.
