I’ve just been playing vs AI for awhile and I’m getting a bit bored with it and I was wondering if I could go to QP and perform slightly better. So I used to have a 9 year old laptop that could run max 45 fps where my new computer can hit 140 fps with ease and I want to know if that will help me better barring things like rust and my own performance with tracking/aiming.
Fps does/can equate to an increase in performance, but there will always be variables, if you want to see information about it I recommend a video Linus Tech Tips did with Shroud.

I can also add that when I was younger and had a awful dinosaur of a computer and played R6 I could easily destroy with 25 fps LOL so it can be a mixed bag of variables.
obviously, but png is just as important and Overwatch has the worst servers in fps ffs
It will definitely help, but gamesense/awareness counts for a lot more. I got to diamond on a 60fps setup before framerate started to hold me back, for example.
Just jump into real games and start playing, regardless of your hardware
For 99% of people i’d say 120 fps is the most they’ll ever need on a monitor
240 is also more than enough
I’m at 360hz tho cos why not
Ping also matters, and the higher refresh rate also helps with input latency. Off the top of my head, 60 fps gives you an input latency of about 16.67ms, and at 240 fps its already down to like 3ms
Playing Overwatch on 60 fps on console is nearly unplayable by how laggy it is. Thank god for 120 fps mode.
From 120 fps to 240fps is noticeable as well on PC. Aim feels smoother and it’s easier to track some one.
Do you even have to ask?
If it wasn’t, ppl wouldn’t be wasting money on high end pcs and high refresh rate monitors.
It does especially when learning atlleast.
After that you can generally play with minimal performance loss on most setups.
Everything matters. From your fps and screen to your mouse and even mousepad. The height of your desk, your chair everything. It might be a very small increase, or it might be huge. Only you know.
try Sea of Thieves. Their rancid netcode makes OW’s look top of the line.
I played Destiny with peer to peer, but out of the games that have actual servers Overwatch is the worst for East coast. West Coast have an advantage easily, and you get high elo and they throw in west coast games constantly with 95 png while west coast players are on 1-15 png
They need to let you choose your servers like Valorant
at low elo it doesnt really matter, once you get past diamond hardware should be better
At very high level of play, fps definitely matters
This is so true. Just as a tip for anyone else who made the same mistake I did, never get a desk with drawers down one side. I’m stuck on the left side of my desk because of this, and I’ve had to adjust my sensitivity to compensate for the fact that my arm is always outstretched when I play.
i think they turned garbage after mircocrap acquired them
343 had better servers and they’re microsoft lol
but ow server quality went down severely after microsoft acquired blizzard which honestly i think it should of been blocked
Ok, if I ever decide to go back to comp, I was about mid to high gold and my goal was plat. So I guess in OW 2 terms I’d say with my old laptop it was Gold 1-3 and my target is Plat 3-4 and I was wondering if the updated hardware would give me a better shot at that.
Well it should make the game easier to read since you have more information at hand and can react faster
I thought this thread was about playing other FPS games to become a better OW2 player.
I mean I play WoW semi-hardcore lol. I do not think we want to go down the rabbit hole of me playing anything else except OW and WoW let alone being strictly a PC player.
