Does Brig still counter Tracer? What are Tracers counters?

Tracer seems to run circles around Brig still. What counters Tracer anymore? Or rather, what effectively counters Tracer?

She canā€™t outright kill Tracer, but she can force a recall, which then forces the Tracer to play extra cautious.

Iā€™d say Sombra is a good Tracer counter, if she can get the hack off (you can tell who is a smart Tracer - theyā€™ll blink since it automatically breaks hack when she attempts a hack on her).

Iā€™d also say Ashe, Hanzo, or Widow, since one shot can generally take her out, especially boosted by Mercy.

McCree should be one, but his flashbang is too inconsistent, and often, Tracer can outplay him and bait it.

Thatā€™s the thing to keep in mind - Tracerā€™s skill ceiling is so high (if there is one), that she can probably outplay everything and not die. Countering her is making her stay farther back and to be afraid to dive in as opposed to the traditional, ā€œI countered you, and therefore you diedā€.

One lucky hit with a little more damage and she just recalls.

Bash was never THE counter to Tracer.

Itā€™s the passive armor she provides. Tracer does baby damage vs armor

Tracerā€™s biggest thing that makes her go, ā€œOh god Iā€™m about to dieā€ is a stun. And McCreeā€™s flashbang is too inconsistent.

Brigā€™s shield bash + whipshot is enough. Sheā€™ll live because the combo doesnā€™t instakill her anymore, but itā€™s crippling enough to where it forces that recall if she has it. So thatā€™s a pretty concrete way to force recall out. With other heroes, itā€™s not as consistent.

Symmetra is still a great counter to Tracer, her turrets make quick work of her. Good Roadhogs can easily hook her, too.

She does with Repair pack still but Tracer doesnā€™t have to respect her space anymore, which is why she doesnā€™t do well in 222.

Brig is the only reliable counter.

Other than that, the rest are in the soft counter category, which is to say, they can annoy tracer but cannot actually do anything to stop her reliably barring Tracer screwing up (Which the further you go up, the less chance of that happening.).

Brig is at best a soft counter to tracer. You do not need to play that close and in her face.

MCCree is by far a better tracer counterā€¦ heck even hanzo does it better, though you need more aim and presense for that.

Only to a tracer in close range not moving much.

Such a tracer can be beaten by kicking him.

She creates a ā€˜ā€˜no goā€™ā€™ zone as long as she is holding on to her Shield bash.
And her AoE healing, burst heal and armor make it hard to find an opening.
Shooting her from a distance is kinda pointless due to spread, damage fall off and Brigā€™s shield.

I still think the engagement is in Tracerā€™s favor unless theyā€™re utilizing vertical positions. But in a horizontal engagement, itā€™s in Tracerā€™s favor. As their slow fire rate is easy to blink through.

McMeme doesnā€™t counter Tracer.
He merely creates a ā€˜ā€˜no goā€™ā€™ zone. Flash is super easy to bait, and on a 10s cooldown. If you bait the flash, you can outright farm most McCrees.
Alternatively, you wittle him down from a distance as he lacks mobility and sustain.

SOFT?
Armor pack brings next to full health an ally and gives them armor.
Rally gives 100 armor to everyone.
Bash is a long stun.
Whip basically halves her health and boops her away.
Brig canā€™t be one clipped under normal circumstance.
And to top it all off, she has constant passive heal aura.

Yeah.
Soft.

Heroes that do well against Tracer:

  • Hanzo
  • Ashe
  • Sombra
  • McCree
  • Pharah (most maps Tracer canā€™t pressure her too much)
  • Torb
  • Hog
  • Brig
  • DVA (specifically for peeling backline from Tracer)

Consider me hugely skeptical on McCree being the counter considering that not even pros take up McCree to stop Tracer, and the McCree has to massively outskill the Tracer at that point.

Iā€™ll give a pass on Hanzo but thatā€™s more because Hanzo vertical mobility allows him to avoid a lot of problems with Tracer but countering her reliably isnā€™t what I think he does.
