Does anyone use a footpedal for Push to Talk?

I’m looking on amazon and they all seem like they don’t work well from the reviews. I’m surprised Logitech doesn’t make one.

No, but some people just bind PTT to one of their mouse buttons.

Footpedal isn’t a bad idea though.

Its probably easier just to leave your mic open and have a toggle mute key

I already do that. I would prefer a foot pedal

Why it doesnt work well?

Essentially its just an another HID.

I used to have PTT on my mouse button5, now I replaced it with mic mute button, so I dont have to hold the button.

Fight starts - I activate mic, fight ends - disabled.

go search USB footpedal on amazon, they all have poor reviews.

I was just thinking of putting another keyboard on my floor though

that’s a good idea, but I don’t to make people listen to me breath and click my buttons

well just put another keyboard then, make DIY panel to enlarge any button that would be pressed

yeah, I might do that, but I’d defienlty spend $30 if Logitech made one :frowning:

I use this one. Has worked for 3 years now. Took maybe 2 weeks to get used to flexing my toe when I wanted to talk. You just assign it any key value and then it acts like a keypad.

This is isn’t my first, but I tried the cheap plastic ones on amazon first… always broke after a few months. This one is metal and has been VERY durable.

I actually use a mouse button, but now that I think about it, I like your idea of a foot pad.

i dont know why the game doesnt have voice detect like teamspeak

Pretty much this tbh.

I use the middle mouse button - a foot pedal sounds like a good idea, but to be honest what I really want is a noisegate - ie, push to talk and open the noisegate, and it cuts off after there’s been no transmission for say 3-5 seconds.

I use one. It is quite convenient for me. Sometimes the phone rings and all I have to do is lift my foot to mute the mic.

I have a Nostromo that I never got accustomed to, to cover that job.
It’s on the floor with all the buttons programmed to the Open channel button. Just step on it when I want to talk. I don’t wear shoes when I play, so it’s not like I’ll break it.

I’ve never actually thought about doing that, but thats a pretty legit idea.

Yeah, you can buy a mouse that is not just the left/right/middle click. Like this one has a bunch of buttons:

https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Gaming-Backlit-Programmable-Buttons/dp/B0086UK7IQ/

the one you linked has 50% of it’s reviews 1 star lol

how do the drivers work? or is it just plug and play?

I can only speak for my own experience, but it’s been a hell of a lot more durable than the other cheap ones.

There’s some software you have to run once to configure it, otherwise it doesn’t know what key you want it to press. That’s all.

so far it’s survived being kicked around and tumbled on a hardwood floor with no ill effects and the spring inside still has a lot of pushback.

You should summarize the user’s manual, collate and summarize consumer feedback from at least 12 retailers, stress test 3 more in a variety of environmental conditions, and then purchase 2 of them for him (just in case the first one doesn’t work).
