I noticed a lot of people seem to like Reaper and Mercy for a fan ship. Despite it not making any sense. I myself am guilty of this, though I was just curious what was other Mercy x Reaper fans’ reason for why they like the pairing.
I myself like it and could admit that it would never work out though. But I honestly am not even sure why I gravitate to that ship when looking up fan art and all that. No hate please, this is not for flaming. It is just so I can hear what peoples’ reason for shipping them is.
I would of made this a shipping conversation in general, but that would kick up too much toxicity and arguments I feel if I made this post to discuss all ships. Certain ships are not for everyone, thus please stay on topic if you reply to this and don’t be a dick.
I mainly ship Genji and Mercy, and even then i’m not big on it.
However I do admittedly have a small liking to Mercy and Reaper.
I think part of it is like the Angel and Devil kind of ‘storyline’ I guess you could say, where she has good intentions and he clearly doesn’t.
Yet I also feel like I preferred Dr Zeigler and Commander Reyes rather than Mercy and Reaper, but I don’t really have a reason why to be honest.
Also, sometimes my boyfrienf and I go into Overwatch (NOT COMP, and I do NOT pocket heal) and he’ll be Reaper and i’ll be Mercy. It’s nothing like roleplay, or anything even close, I just like the two heroes and the compatibility. It’s rare that we do it though, and we usually try to match skins
Well Mercy and Genji are a cannon couple. In the lore it’s self they are dating. XD So no one has a right to judge you for liking them, since Blizzard themselves basically put them together.
Also I can agree with using them on teams, those two are nearly unstoppable when they work together and the people playing them are a pro at playing the characters.
I only like two ships really, that’s Tracer and Emily, and Genji and Mercy. I have had a few “oh they’d be cute” moments but yeah that’s about it…and luckily for me both ships are basically Cannon so yay!
But yeah, I like Mercy and Reaper as a duo. Obviously, gameplay doesn’t equal my ship but it’s a reason for it. And I mean honestly, the amount of pictures I have of Witch Mercy and Pumpkin Head Reaper doing emotes is great
I used to ship Mercy and Reaper a while ago until Baptiste came out.
I loved the whole angel of life and angel of death thing they had.Plus one is a reaper who kills, the other brings people to life. Not to mention he is dark and she is light. I loved the whole thing on them. I was hoping they would be a thing when Overwatch was first released. especially when she said what happend to you and he said “you tell me doc” making you think more happened.
But now that Bap is in the game. I ship her with him now but I still like Mercy x Reaper.
I mean, for a long time the whole “Mercy was the one who brought Reaper back” theory had weight and this was a pretty reasonable ship all things considered. That theory seems pretty debunked at this point but there’s still the Halloween dynamic and the whole Angel x Demon thing I guess.
I prefer Gency myself but damn if there isn’t some gorgeous art out there for Reaper and Mercy.
I just said in my original post to stay on topic and don’t flame. You saying certain ships are gross counts as not staying on topic as well as dissing other ships. That is not what this post is about. It is specifically JUST about Mercy x Reaper. So I appreciate your reply but please get rid of the “Gency is Nasty”.
It is off topic and could kick up toxicity with people who like that and Mercy x Reaper who come to this thread. Alright?
We where not talking about Lore really. We where just talking about Mercy x Reaper. Someone just mentioned there was a theory of her bringing Reaper back to life, but Reaper is technically immortal like Mercy herself. So I stand more on the terms that he brought himself back to life unwillingly and unknowingly.

No worries, just saying. If you come into a Mercy x Reaper topic then you should be talking about Mercy x Reaper.
Not so much opinions regarding Mercy or Reaper. I am just trying to keep the toxicity down in this thread, since shipping topics can be a touchy subject for some. Sure I will get a few trolls and negative monkeys in here somewhere down the line I am sure. But oh well, some people go in topics just to complain, so I expect that to happen eventually.
As the title says though it is about why people ship the two. Since I am honestly not sure why I do.
I answered the question, though. I can’t imagine why anyone would ship those two, or really anyone except maybe Reaper x Soldier (unresolved tension being part of the discordance between the two that led to the blow-up).
That was not the question my friend. I stated to keep on topic about it if you do reply. You didn’t. The topic was more why you ship them, not who you ship Mercy with. If you don’t ship them and want to talk about other ships a topic of your own would be the more logical option.
Some people are just touchy about certain ship which is why I said keep it Mercy x Reaper. If you want to talk other ships, then make your own topic since I am just trying to keep the peace here.

Go make your own topic no one here is going to tell you who to ship, but I will tell you it is not for other ships. That is all, I don’t have opinions regarding the ones you mentions. Not that it is suppose to be discussed here.
