Quick play it’s pretty much understood that the matchmaker is just not there.
Competitive however I have been finding myself saying “mm diff gg” it’s always pretty funny when everybody agrees with me. Stomp after stomp after stomp. It’s not fun for anybody

People definitely say it. But imo most people know what the role diff is and don’t need it typed in chat. If my tank got diffed hard I just avoid them. They probably know they were the reason we lost, and if not then let them continue their descent down the ladder while I never see them on my team again. Simple.
No. It seems tacky and someone doing that is basically just handing people free coupons good for one free report if they care to use them. You do you, though.
Most people won’t bother - and I wouldn’t because it doesn’t rise to the level I think merits it, being just kind of childishly obnoxious - but you are quite literally asking for it.
VC and text are turned off so I don’t have to deal with any of your drama. I have no time or energy for that crap when I’m playing video games. I save it for the forums, lol.
IMO this just falls under normal competitive trash talking which i think should be encouraged… its literally just dialog. There’s obviously a line between trash talking and actual toxicity/racism etc but just the normal stuff like GG / diff / or calling out trash heros like mei / torb or what ever you feel like calling out as a throw / easy cheat hero to get under peoples skin to get in their head then more power to you. I don’t think that’s toxic I think it increases engagement and I think its entertaining.
I’m not condoning anything that crosses the line - but yeah man trash talking in comp is totally normal and I’m all for it, why not? if it bugs you just mute that person. report if it actually crosses the line between normal trash talking and racism/threats etc or just stay out of chat all together.
imo a video game is the perfect place for you to act imature, throw a tantrum, throw around dumb harmless insults and w/e makes you feel good lol. don’t take it to heart.

I forgot I made this post but I just wanted to say I was talking about saying Matchmaker diff because I especially like to say this when I see people start to argue about who’s at fault it’s like guys it’s the Matchmaker it is what it is. Just wanted to clarify that. Reason why it’s just better to stay in quickplay
It’s funny what people believe.
In reality the match maker is exactly the same in ranked and quick play, using the same MMR. The only difference was grouping restrictions. (Not sure how that’s changed with the new grouping rules, I don’t play quick play anymore)
The whole stomp thing, doesn’t matter what the reality is. People will always blame that on the easiest scapegoat. And that’s the match maker. There’s enough mystery that you can’t directly be proven wrong, even if you are… And it can’t argue back.
Virtual spaces are real spaces.
Playing pickup sports with strangers with whom you have no rapport at all is not the best place and time to whip out your most acid trash talk. you will probably start a real-life fight.
take the same group and have them play every weekend for a couple months and they’ll verbally shred each other and laugh about it.
match-made video games against strangers and trashtalk don’t mix well.
If Blizz actually created a matchmaker like they claimed where both teams have at least a 40% chance to win it would be the greatest matchmaker of all time.
Whats funny is most of us arent even asking for anything close to that good. I would be thrilled even with a minimum of 20% chance to win in worst case scenarios.
But there are some games that Im convinced if we ran it back 100 times with the same teams the result would be the same 100 times over barring any leavers or dc’s.
I tend not to even look at chat these days as both voice and text are (excuse the stereotyping but it’s literally 90% them) Saudi players in EU servers dropping N Bombs, telling people to unalive themselves and talking about forcing on people’s mothers and stuff. Great in a game that isn’t rated M.

fair point - but like i said there’s obviously a line. All the normal stuff like “GG WP” or get diffed or w/e is no where near that line tho… passive aggressive taunts like “what is your tank doing?” or stuff like that is just totally normal competitive trash talk and I like your example of IRL pick up sports games… I think it’s totally normal to say stuff like that just messing around.
the real issue is violence / threats / racism / discrimination and those sorts of things. I sincerely think basic trash talking adds value and dialog to the game. I agree it crosses lines some times though but i mean what other tools can blizz give us? I wouldn’t support live auto banning or muting because mistakes and mistypes can happen - and we can already leave chat, mute people, block people, and report where ‘theoretically’ a human will review your report (lol) so I just legitimately don’t know what more they could even actually give us to ‘fix’ the issue.

to an extent, i agree, ‘gg ez’ isn’t that big a deal.
but if the gamemakers want to foster a culture where that’s strongly discouraged, i don’t have any problems there either.
i have been trying to cultivate in-game positivity. it’s generally well received and my games are my pleasant.
