Just like the title says, I feel like a majority of Ana players genuinely dont understand how Anti-Nade works. At the point, the game should have a prompt on screen that tells Ana players that Biotic Grenade applies an 100% anti heal.
Wait, it can anti-heal people? I thought it was a healing grenade. Why would a heal grenade prevent healing?
True, what was I thinking… maybe I was being toxic to the Ana who didn’t want to use the Biotic Grenade on the Mauga
Primary reason why I don’t anti the enemy tank is because I accidentally heal a teammate that blocks the view
Uninstall.
for your own sanity
Doesn’t matter when that specific character has been meta for 8 years straight. You can suffer from brain parasites and still get value out of Ana.
Many suck at ana and just play her for fun or to get easy value. Because lets be honest, you do get easy value on ana even if you can’t play her to her full potential. But you’re going to miss out on so much value if you’re a bad ana player.
I’ve lost so many games because my teammate went ana and wasn’t doing their job properly. They weren’t using their nade aggressively, constantly wasting their cooldowns, missing their sleep darts, choosing bad target to nano boost at the wrong time, not doing enough damage, not doing any clutch healing, dying too easily, positioning very badly, etc. And on rare occasions when they switched off ana because it isn’t working for them, I take over, and boom we suddenly start winning the game.
I’ve noticed that a lot of bad ana players switch to kiriko when ana isn’t working and seem to do much better after. So my guess is that these ana players have never played OW1 and doesn’t know the importance of good positioning as a support. They just stay in the open because they’ve gotten used to having so much survivability.
The Purple Screen and + icon and down icon arrows don’t give enough contextual clues?
Then again, there’s a lot of players on these very forums that took a long time to realize that Biotic Grenade does have counter plays for a majority of the heroes in each role.
Playing Ana requires some mechanical aim and knowledge. Not having that is why I keep outhealing Ana players as Echo Duplicating them.
Clutch healing really isn’t a good idea; especially for a new player or a player with all the reasons you listed.
I haven’t really noticed this trend. I’ll keep a look out for it next season, though!
What Ana doesn’t know that?
It doesn’t take much mental effort or requires immense knowledge to know that anti healing Mauga or Hog is probably a good idea
No, it doesn’t. And it doesn’t hurt that Blizzard left an menu available by pressing F1 at all times to see what skills are available and what they do.
… and yet…
We still have problems with players not really understanding how to play Supports. Because there’s no real tutorial, everything is passive, and requires effort on the player to find that information. Rather than offering it via in-game tutorials. And that’s a problem.
It would be fine if, say, the game had a PvE mode in which it could teach players how to play each role while going through a campaign mode, but it doesn’t. So players have to fumble around, while being grouped up with players who have hundreds of hours in the game, and are still being filtered into these teams with players who have zero hours in the game. Thus breeding more toxicity.
I would not consider myself a particularly good Ana player, but I’d like to think I position decently enough. At the very least, I try to avoid being out in the open or up with the Tank.
The problem is that for some reason I can’t hit a (damage) shot to save my life. I can do semi-okay on Ashe aim-wise but Ana just remains a mystery to me.
That, and teammates accidentally blocking Nade, but that’s often kinda on me for playing low ground.
Ive had many games where i had to burn nearly every nade on a flanking sombra/tracer so i was rarely able to nade the tank and eventually swapped. Was there any issues that might have stopped then from having cooldown available? Or do you have replay Code?
Yesterday enemy Doom was like 20-0 until I swapped to Ana. I proceeded to abuse him so badly, he finished 25-5, and 3 of those deaths were me soloing him. And I’m a Mercy one trick with terrible aim! This happens all the time.
Most players, even if they know what 'nade does, are too lazy to be bothered with teamwork. It’s frankly very annoying how most dps players don’t actually play the game other than try to click heads.
It’s Blizz’s fault for reworking heroes for “individual impact” which really means go chase kills and don’t play the game. That’s why such easy strategic opportunities go wasted.
