Do your mains in other games align with Overwatch?

So, I’m curious. Whether it’s Marvel Rivals, Apex Legends, Valorant, FragPunk, Deadlock, League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm, Paladins, whatever your game of choice is: do the heroes you play in those games tend to line up with the heroes and roles you play in Overwatch?

For me, kinda but not really. I main in Overwatch DVa, Kiriko, and Juno. I play mostly Mei, Bastion, and Sombra on DPS. My role preferences are tank, support then DPS in that order.

In Marvel Rivals I tend to prefer support. I play Luna, Invisible Woman, Cloak and Dagger, and Mantis mostly. And I play a lot of Psylocke on DPS which kinda is similar to Sombra. Tank is my least favorite role in that game with a preference for Venom and Dr. Strange.

I used to play Heroes of the Storm (gave it up some time ago though) which actually had Overwatch heroes in it, but I absolutely hated playing D.Va in that game. I preferred Anub’arak, Blaze, Muradin, and Dehaka. I did play tank at least. On healer I played Brightwing or Lucio. And for DPS just Jaina which I guess is a bit Mei like, but the game actually has Mei in it and I didn’t touch her.

So for me, I don’t think my choices necessarily line up. But for tanks I do tend to prefer dive tanks. That’s really the only thing I can say. What about you?

In MR, I play Hawkeye, so that lines up with my love of Hanzo. Though… Hawkeye is super boring in comparison.

My other favorite hero would be Moon Knight (I actually prefer him over Hawkeye). I play a fair amount of Genji, and their primary fires feel kind of similar, I guess.

Yes, I like gimmick characters that allow u to catch enemies unaware but otherwise less powerful. Squirlgirl and junk cause of wall bounces, moonkight for them sneaky anhks and bamboozles for the foolzles(sounded better in my head) in apex

I play DPS instead of support in MR. Support feels pretty boring in MR to me.

Overwatch: Cassidy, Venture, Mei, and Junk
MR: Squirrel Girl, Rocket, C&D, and Loki
Well at least there’s one match :skull:

im playing a lot of scarlet witch. no aim, no brain and kill those pesky spider dudes. she is basically a souped up dps moira… the real dps moira heh

also yea i play black widow although she is a bit inferior copy of widowmaker

wish there was a sombra character but scarlet witch is sorta like her in where i can flank undetected and escape since she has double moira fade. just better than moira in every way heh

Somewhat? I play about every role, so…
I enjoy the Tanks in OW a lot more, so I barely play any in MR. Been a Ball main as of late while still dabbling into Queen, Hog, Doom, and Orisa where necessary. MR tanks have no punch. I play Strange and Magneto solely because they’re good, and they’re shield tanks compared to all 5 I listed being… not that. Paladins’ Yagorath was a fun tank, I played her a lot when I played that game.

Used to love Junkrat, but playing Squirrel spoiled me. I just can’t get used to his glacial projectile speed in a hitscan’s world again.

Supports can go either way both games. I really love Adam Warlock, Mantis, and Invisible Woman. I don’t think many of those compare to OW besides Zen, and I do like me some Zen, but not particularly my main; that’d be more Weaver, Ana, and Brig. Maybe Lucio.

Kinda. I play Flex in OW2 but in MR, I play mostly Support. My mains in OW2 are D.Va, Juno, Illari, Wrecking Ball, Reinhardt, Pharah, Echo, Bastion, and Ashe. I also sometimes play Hazard and Rammatra.

In MR, I play mostly Invisible Woman, Mantis, Capt America, Iron Man, and Mr. Torch. Sometimes Starlord amd C&D. I used to play Thor but I started to hate his Ult so I stopped playing him. I think most of the Tanks in MR are pretty terrible while in OW, they are nicely-designed and enjoyable. And the DPS roles in MR just dont do it for me, with a few exceptions.

In Paladins, I played Io, Ruckus, Torvald, Terminus and Raum. Sometimes Ying. I used to play quite a bit of Paladins back in 2019 when I started playing OW1. Good times…

Never played Apex, briefly played Valorant, dont remember who I played. I wanna try Apex now since they have the original “Perks” system that OW2 has. I really like the Perks system

Eh, Kinda. You decide:

  • Overwatch: Reaper, Doom, WB, Widow
  • League of Legends: Aatrox, Draven, Mordekaiser, Warwick
  • Rainbow Six Siege: Caviera, Jager, Buck, Jackal
  • Borderlands 1: Brick
  • Borderlands 2: Krieg the Psycho
  • MR (if I could play it): MoonKnight, Wolverine
  • Valorant: Chamber, Reyna

I guess lifesteal and CQC characters are one’s I lean towards. I like solving my problems by punching them in the face.

Don’t really have a main in Marvel Rivals yet, but I do seem to perform well with Storm, Human Torch, Star-Lord, and Winter Soldier.

Mr. Fantastic I’m also pretty decent with, as well as all the healers.

Can’t handle Wolverine very well, but was never a fan of him, anyway.

Don’t really have a main in League, either. I do like Chen, Alarak, Imperius and Deathwing in Heroes of the Storm, but I’m not sure they, or the ones in Marvel Rivals, align with Genji, Zarya, Doomfist or Junker Queen in Overwatch.

I’m also partial to Freja, but I’ll have to play her to really see if I can align with her.

Other games I don’t really play. In terms of fighting games; Chun-li, Akuma, Terry Bogard, Rock Howard. Xianghua, Siegfried, Cervantes from Soul Calibur.

In FF14, I… “main” quite a few Jobs there and switch around based on expansion, but Samurai, Red Mage, and Bard/Dancer, Ninja and Dragoon have been the big ones I’ve focused on from game to game.

You know, I thought I wouldn’t like Juno all that much, but she’s been pretty fun and fairly adaptable to me. Can’t stand D.va, and don’t care much for Kiriko, though I do have all of the above’s Achievement Sprays.

Psylocke is surprisingly easy to play, but I haven’t really “grasped” her yet. I know she’s a Genji expy, but doesn’t seem to adapt well. The others I’ve all played, but I tend to run Mantis more often than not. The rest of the healer bunch I can do really well with, but doesn’t really jive with me.

Hawkeye was the first hero I played in Marvel Rivals and adapted super well to him, but more recently haven’t played him much as I’m find other heroes there more enjoyable.

Moon Knight is just way too easy for me, so I get bored pretty quickly with him.

When I need to clear some achievement points for the Red Star-Lord jacket, I jumped on Scarlet Witch and ended up dominating so many games so often I ended up quitting Scarlet Witch. She’s just way too easy for me, but it is nice that there is a Duelist hero in Marvel Rivals for beginners that don’t require much mechanical work.

Thor feels like a hero that’s probably blending too well with Vanguards and the “Brawler”-class line of Duelists like Fantastic, Wolverine, and Winter Soldier. While the other Vanguards feel more traditional.

My main in World of Warcraft is a Tank Warrior, but I don’t like playing Reinhardt. My original main was once Mercy, which made sense with my Holy Priest back in the day but these days I main Brigitte while not really playing Paladin.

In Rivals, my main was Psylocke. I guess it makes sense since my go to dps is Sombra, but I feel she’s more like Genji (who I despise and can’t play to save my life). That said, I stopped playing Rivals so I guess that doesn’t matter anymore.

In Rivals, the majority of my playtime is on Venom. I did play a lot of Ball prior to OW2, but sometime during 2 I dropped him because he just wasn’t fun in a solo tank environment, and Venom (to my experience so far) doesn’t have NEARLY as bad matchups. I’ll still play Ball in 6v6 or OQ, though. Weirdly enough, I don’t mind solo tanking as Venom much as I do on Ball. Probably because of the aformentioned better matchups.
Nowadays I consider myself a Kiriko main, but I often flex off to other Supports I feel like playing at that moment.

Heroes of the Storm, on the other hand, you’d expect me to either play bulky dive characters like Tyrael, or healers who can make offensive plays like Kharazim or something. No, I play the builder hero. I’m one of the, like, six Probius mains on the planet, and by main, I mean (in my case) that I have a level 120+ Probius followed by a level 13 Malthael. For reference, I rarely play Torb or Sym.

There was also the brief period I played Pokemon Unite during its launch. I pretty much only played Mr. Mime. He’s a silly little guy, he’s an uncommon pick, and I like punishing overextending enemies by putting walls behind them and slamming my poor victims into them.

Edit: Oh yeah, there’s other games I could talk about. I mostly didn’t bring them up since they’re not in the PVP genre.

Risk of Rain 2, I mostly play Loader and Bandit. Burst damage & grappling around the map is way too fun, guaranteed crits are a close second. Honorable mentions to Artificer and REX.

Binding of Isaac, not really a game I’d say you pick up a “main” in so much as a favorite character - my main is whoever I’m trying to get unlocks for, lol. But I tend to always get god runs whenever I play Cain, so he’s one of my favorites, and whenever I just want a simple casual run where I go on a power trip I’ll often pick Tainted Azazel, his method of attack is fun to use.

I’m a fan of alternate fire modes, deployables, and abilities that help out allies. In OW I play Zarya, Ram, Torb, Bap, Illari and Kiriko for the most part.

When I started Rivals I was initially unimpressed by the tanks there. I got to plat by playing support whenever possible, the most basic Doc you’ve ever seen when it wasn’t, and the occasional bit of Namor when we were in danger of running tri-support. The supports I like the most are Loki, Adam, Mantis, and Cloak & Dagger. I would like Sue but her barrier feels so janky to me; I really wish I could just stick it in front of myself by pressing f. I want to like Rocket, but I hate feeling like taping down RMB is the play; I occasionally pick him when I’m in the mood for healbotting.

But I’ve started warming to tanks a bit and I’m currently trying to improve my tank pool over in QP. Mags got a pretty neat damage buff in the mid-season patch, and I’m starting my Groot arc now. Man, I wish I’d tried him out sooner. Overwatch doesn’t have a builder tank and this guy is fun as all heck. I love the way that the thorn walls act as both a wall and a source of extra damage. Not only can he do Mei-esque stuff but he can punish enemies with wall setups that deliberately don’t block, but instead cause the enemy to get slapped for bonus damage.

I don’t think OW players could stomach characters like Loki and Groot, sadly. Folks here can barely handle things like Illari pylons, Sym turrets and Torb turret, so a support that belches out 250 HP clones would cause the playerbase’s heads to explode - and that’s before we talk about how he has IF, stealth and Dupe as well.

Hmmm, not really I guess?
I used to play Paladins (back when you had card loadouts and stuff RIP) and mained Maeve there with Kinessa and Evie kinda filling the gaps. Ash or Seris if I got stuck tanking or supporting. None of them really play like Mercy.
I haven’t played MR, Deadlock, LoL, Apex or Valorant so I have no input on them.
I have no idea who Wriothesly would translate to, Doom probably? I do not play Doom, I should not play Doom ever.
In Deep Rock I play Scout, I like the grappling hook a lot, very fun, does not relate to Mercy really. It’s more Widow jumpshotty, but with fall damage.
Borderlands 2 it was Gaige, BL3 Moze, could maybe get some D.Va there (though I dropped her with solo tanking) with Moze, but Iron Bear is not speedy and I use the tiny automated one instead of the mech. Gaige is a lil more Ashe/BoB.
Risk of Rain 2 it’s Huntress or Railgunner, I like the Bandit too, none translate to Mercy though.

The brains of my friends are made of muscles. They only do DPS and Tanking so I have been THE support since I started playing EQII with them while we were very young, and playing various kinds of online games as well. And I am still maining supports in most games until now. I am confident when it comes to keeping you alive, buffing and debuffing. But because of my nature, I don’t know how to DPS unless when I am drunk.

Nope, I don’t think so.

In Marvel Rivals the only character I really enjoyed was Scarlet Witch, but here in OW I never play Moira, at all. I usually go with Reaper, Mei and Brig. Hanzo too, though less than the others.

I… don’t think that aligns.

A little bit, I suppose. Overwatch is the only PvP shooter game I play consistently though

Yes! I got OW because my best friend told me that Tracer was like my dbd main, Nurse.

Tracer isn’t much like Nurse but Blinks as an ability captivate me

You play the heroes that get reworked over and over😭

Unfortunately, it is the norm for me, my friend. I usually tend to like and play characters that, sooner or later, get changed / reworked in some way (I miss freezing on primary fire).
