Do you think Overwatch could have a Domination system?

You know how there’s that “domination” system in Overwatch? Where, if you kill the same person multiple times in a row, you’ll hear a theme play and an icon will appear over the head of the person you’re dominating? Sometimes players will say a line after dominating an enemy player, or when they kill the character dominating them (getting revenge in that case).

Do you think Overwatch could handle a system like that? Characters already say funny lines when killing certain enemies, so a system like this could work well. My biggest concern is that the overwatch fanbase is so toxic and sensitive, people might literally have a melt down if they get dominated.

IDK. I just always liked that system in TF2 and I started to think about it in OW.

It would certainly be called a “diff system” knowing this game.

We already have match chat to let someone know when we own them.

OW is way too toxic for that to have a net positive on the game, IMO. Players don’t need an excuse to get any more tilted than they already are. The revenge system is fine as-is.

I’d really like that, I’m not joking. I just wish we could have a system like that without starting WW3.

What even is the revenge system? I barely see the pop up, so I don’t understand it. Do you have to kill someone literally right after they killed you?

Afraid not.
With how there have been complaints about scoreboards, “GG EZ,” and “Diff,” having an officially recognized system that says, “this player is better than you,” will not be well recieved.

It wouldn’t be a system that says “this player is better than you”. I’d say “this player has killed you multiple times”. Which you already know, and only works to add salt to the wound.

I say that like its something to be avoided, but really, a little spicy game design could go a long way. Give the game more personality instead of a game where you’re supposed to stop the person from winning, but you have to be 100% nice and also you can’t stun them because you can’t stop their fun while you’re trying to kill them and stop them from winning.

Why would players need to be toxic when the game does it for them?

We also need more insulting taunts. And voice lines that outright roast other heroes.

Yeah…that’s likely not gonna happen. If you T-bag, a common online game taunt, the mob complains. You say “Good Game” to show sportsmanship, the same mob complains that you are rubbing salt on the wound.
Maybe if the majority of the playerbase wasn’t so sensitive this would work but Overwatch is not that playerbase.
I played TF2 and it’s a nice system, especially when you have a Mirror rival. The banter was my best memory of TF2.

Gamers in general are way too soft.

I am all for gatekeeping them with insulting taunts.

We have to get to the point where we ignore the mob. I think you’ll be surprised at the content my game has. On one hand, it’ll have stuff that can actually considered progressive. But it’ll also have classic things like women in impractical armor, low brow humor and such. This is because, well, I’m doing this for me. I don’t care about what “mob” does, and I think any artist should do the same.

I bring that up because I REALLY think Blizzard should start creating content that’s good for the game and not content that appeases a mob. They should add a domination feature because its funny, maybe not for everyone, but its still funny.

I enjoy trash talk in TF2, so its fun to beat someone who was dominating me and mocking them for it. And you know what? TF2 didn’t magically blow up, or turn into a breeding grounds for incels. It was just trash talk.

I personally don’t feel game design should encourage grudges or focusing for the sake of focusing.

The game already has enough elements that make people feel like they’re not in control of their victory or loss, we don’t need “AND this guy was murdering you the whole game!” on top of that.

They already had something of the sort with the “fire” system. Not antagonistic in nature, but still a “what’s up” to the enemy team.

They should bring it back, no reason they should have dropped it that I can see, other than it “hurt people’s feelings” boohoo

Nah this would gatekeep certain toxic salty players from playing by making fun of them and eventually making them rage uninstall. It’s objectively morally correct.

Eh? Morals are not objective by definition.

In this case, it is.

Also it might even reduce toxicity a little. Why make fun of people when the game can do it for them? :eye::lips::eye:

Please explain how a system of personal values is ever objective.

Please say sike. Please.

I do like that idea on paper but it will only be a source of more toxicity in the game

Because some jerks simply deserve to be bullied off the game for the sake of everyone else’s sanity. Gatekeeping is always good.

No sike today. Sorry. I’m fresh out of those.

Oh … kay.

GNIGHT EVERYBODY.
