Do you prefer projectile or hitscan?

I personally prefer projectile, but I’ve heard people say that hitscan is more popular. I’d love to know your thoughts.
(Sidenote: Melee is a valid answer. Just saying.)

Prefer projectile but mostly Mei. But enjoy me some six shooting as Cassidy although he kinda serves nothing to even play

One involves aim the other involves pretending you are aiming.

I’ve honestly never thought about pewpew types, but in a different game I guess I like hitscan better (it’s on a rifle I use a lot).

In OW I’d probably say projectile though.

I have no idea how people actually prefer projectile. I need that immediate feedback that my shots are landing so I can adjust it right away. My brain doesn’t click with projectiles especially in a game like OW where the movement is so erratic.

Can’t argue with that.

I like all kinds of aiming, both projectile and hitscan, however, I tend to have a very slight preference for projectile because there is quite some satisfaction hitting back to back direct hits or midairs with projectiles.

hitscans and Genji, Hanzo for attacking where Cass can’t

Genji for attacking high ground on, Gibraltar, dorado
Hanzo for attacking havana, circruit royale, eichenwalde, junkertown
Sym for a free win on Lijiang tower
Mei for chokepoints on the snow map, kings row defense

Used to play a ton of Torb on defense until they ruined him making his turret near useless.

I can’t aim, so I play hitscan. Hitscan is easy. Just put the dot on the pixel and click. It’s great for me, because I have no idea where those crazy AD spammers are going next.

Im really bad at aiming projectiles even though I like them more than hitscan

hitscan though the hitscan pool of dps heros is a lot smaller than the projectile pool of heros.

and actually means i play more projectile heros and only play 2 hitscan.

only benefit these 2 heros have in common over projectile is headshots.

though zen actually has my favourite primary for it’s unusual projectile characteristic of being spammable due to the large ammunition.

I prefer projectile because I’m too old and slow and my mechanical skill has dropped significantly since my 20’s. My brain still works though, so I can predict player movement and lead accordingly. Much better than I can track.

You don’t have to be so hard on yourself because you aren’t able to predict where players are moving and hit them with projectiles. Just practice a bit and you’ll get better at it.

i prefer projectile heroes (and bad at them) but hitscan are what im best at.

hitscan weapons are easier to aim with the higher up you go because you dont get to just spam someone for a year and hope they walk into it anymore.

but projectile heroes are generally the coolest in the game, outside of tracer, because they have the weird and unique kits that hitscan dreams of.

I dunno xD

There are a very few Junkrats and Mei that can handle flyers without problem.

It’s adorable that you think that.

It depends on my mood more than anything.

Some of us played a LOT of Tribes, and loved the spinfusor.

Projectile. Hitscan should never have been put in Overwatch. It should all be varying speeds of projectile. Hitscan is bland and unimaginative.

I dunno, if you were any good at projectile you’d play projectile heroes. It’s okay to admit you struggle at predicting player movement and aiming projectiles. It’s not for everyone. You seem to think projectile is nothing but random spam kills, which means you obviously die a lot to random projectiles and are super mad about it. So it’s also okay to admit you aren’t very good at movement and lack the game sense to avoid spam chokes. I’ve played OW since beta days and I only occasionally get deleted by a random Junkrate nade. It’s very rare I die from a random projectile. In fact, I die a lot more to an out of place Widow holding her crosshair still waiting for a head to run by than I do a random projectile.

It’s okay though, I get it. I call Bastion skilless because he’s easy mode and is almost an insta-win when a team is about to lose. I have a few friends who like to call every ability and hero that kills them “skilless” also. Which I always find funny because they’ll play the same hero they are complaining about and suck quite spectacularly at it.
