Do you have tips to improve my aim?

A very simple question with a difficult answer (I have the hardware)

But do you have just general tips for me to improve my aim.

For example:

  • Learn your tracking with winston, just follow 1 target
  • With Tracer you might want a higher sensitivity then Ana

It’s just preference, but honestly I’d personally keep my sensitivity the same across all heroes. It just messes up my muscle memory if I have to keep adjusting.

I used W.B and that helped set the stage for Tracer, Sombra and Soldier etc. Tracking wise I honestly suggest Lucio, since he’s projectile he can help with tracking and determining shot placement.

Tip 1: Play a lot.
Tip 2: Sens doesn’t matter as long as you can control your mouse. It’s personal preference. Anyone saying “use this sens, a pro does” is wasting your time because there are tons of pros, all with great aim, all using different sensitivities.
Tip 3: Get good at reading animations. Characters locking themselves into animations like genji dash, doomfist slam, mercy guardian angel, they’re easy to hit.
Tip 4: Notice when your own movement is messing with your aim. Your strafing might be ruining your flicks.
Tip 5: Players with bad movement, which are very common at lower sr, are a lot easier to hit. It’s easy to confuse easily aimlocking a player that has bad movement with you being good at aiming, and then ask yourself “why can’t I hit anything?” the next round when you’re playing against a player with good movement.
Tip 6: Timing is one of the most important parts of aiming. Don’t worry about where your crosshair is, trust your arm/hand to move the cursor to where it needs to be. Worry about when you need to click. That one helped me.
Tip 7: If you’re worried about your aim, you’re aiming worse because of it.

Remove your cross hair from you screen can also help improve your aim with McCree. It a weird one but it stops you from looking at the cross hair or something mentally like that. I learned it from youtube but honestly. My I haven’t practice much with my McCree.

I know my 76 and Sombra are better than McCree aim though. I should use Ashe more but will wait for 2-2-2.

My top 5 tips

  • Keep your eyes on the enemy, not the crosshair.

  • Play with a sens you’re comfortable with. Use it on all heroes. Changing sens between heroes messes with muscle memory.

  • Try to predict a player’s movement, but try to be reactive as well.
People like to add in a jump or a crouch to be unpredictable.

  • Use your movement to aim.
Sometimes, it’s as simple as using the wasd keys or your control stick to hit a shot.
Matching a player’s strafing makes shots against them easier to land.

  • Practice your tracking and flicks with bots to build muscle memory. Play deathmatch or quickplay to learn when you should use one or the other.

Download Kovaaks off of Steam. It lets you match your settings to whatever game you want to practice, and it has several different games for you to choose from to help practice different skills. It helps a lot.

Learn your tracking with winston, just follow 1 target

ngl that’s a pretty bad idea, Winston uses a wide AOE cone. A better hero to learn tracking with would be Soldier or Dva.

What you’ll want to do is review your replays and see if you overaim or underaim more. If you overaim your sens is too high, if you underaim its too low. (just by a little, tweak it by like 0.25 sens or 50dpi at a time until you feel improvement).

Practice. A lot.

Hope you have a good aiming style. I used a style that eventually made my hand hurt, mfw 15 years of aiming practice down the drain.

“A squeak squeak”

As long as your aim is good. It’s all about your aim. If you have poopy aim, hump you.

Now this might sound quite abstract, however I tend to let my subconscious deal with most of the aiming, while my concious + subconscious as well I guess deals with planning my next move, and considering the dangers present in my current situation and fine tuning/taking control of aim as well if need be.

I hate lifting my mouse, however I have a massive mousepad and with my current dpi/sensitivity I tend rarely to reach the edge, and can usually recenter my mouse exclusively when out of combat.

This really helps with fluid tracking and muscle memory for me.

Lastly:
In my eyes the one true mode to train your aim in is free for all, as you have no external factors like a team to worry about, only surviving, and killing things.

This is especially useful if you then go back to competitive, as you will likely be much more proficient at 1v1’s after playing quite some free for all and feel much less pressure when performing a clutch play than someone who might only practice such stressfull situations in comp.

idk.

Thats just my thoughts, hope it helps.

1.Anticipate change in movement if you are tracking

2.Dont lock your vision on the crosshair when nothing is happening always look around for a target

Get Aim hero and play the reflex training mode. start with custom settings because Easy mode is still way too hard for a beginner.

first time i did a 2 minute session my arm got tired and I noticed how hard you have to work to aim fast enough to hit the targets.
After playing more and more I get used to it and now I don’t have to think about aiming sometimes I kill something before I consciously registered the target.
Aiming becomes a reflex.

if you don’t want to use aim hero but only overwatch Free for All is the best mode for improving aim.

Keep 1 sens for all characters and double that for Tracer and Genji.
