Do you guys seriously all play to win?

“What if it’s the most important comp game of my LIFE and nobody in support queue has Kiriko to switch to her and it’s the ONLY POSSIBLE WAY we could EVER win?”

yeah what if? you’ll lose 65% of all comp games man one team has to lose who cares? that’s beyond an edge case scenario in the first place

“So quickplay’s gonna be a PAY TO WIN until enough time passes for everyone to get the new hero?”

dude its quickplay half your team is playing their faves half your team is playing heroes they like to do meme strats with on the current map and half the enemy team is 13 and distracted by weird changes, nobody is here to win and if they are they’re a fringe minority and a complete loser getting dunked on in chat by the 13 year olds

“I don’t want to have to play quickplay to earn a hero before I can play comp!”

So you don’t want practice before comp? You just wanna leap right in? Winning is so important to you that you’re fearmongering about a bizarre edge case scenario where one single person switching to one specific hero is the deciding factor of an entire 30 minute long match going max number of rounds, but you’re not interested in playing the game outside of comp to practice or just plain have FUN?

I’d rather play to win than play to lose.

Is it my core focus all the time? No, of course not, but winning sure feels a lot nicer than losing. This is one of those questions that’s just… IDK, a little odd to me. Why wouldn’t people play to win? That’s literally the point of the game. There are other aspects that you can enjoy even in defeat, but like the point a competitive multiplayer game is to try to beat the other team.

Thing is, if you supposed to practice for comp, practice on right hero.
If we want to go with this locking heroes thing i have an idea for it.

  1. Make that hero is unlocked at lvl 5 battlepass (or something like that, i put lvl as example) for qp
  2. Make like special tutorial for a hero worth 5 battlepass lvls or something, to unlock hero for qp and arcade
  3. Get battlepass xp boost for playing said hero until unlocking them for comp (like lets say lvl 10 on battlepass)

You get hero early, and get real experience playing them before ranked. Done, idea that take me more to type that come up with.

Yes.

If I want a story game im not playing online.
