Do you find it hard to play single player games these days?

I find I’ve become so used to the social aspect of games like OW that when I try to play through single player titles, even the really well-reviewed/hyped ones, it feels isolating and lonely.

Anyone else notice this?

If not, what are some single player titles that you feel are so immersive that you’re not bothered like that?

playing? no…i have a hard time finding a single player game that intrigues me…nothings really “new” anymore after close to 40 years of playing them

i dont have a hard time sitting down and playing older ones though…and theres even some newer ones that arent terrible: went through mario wonder, metroid dread recently…playing donkey kong tropical freeze right now…

but i dont relate at all to the social aspect of OW part…the part of the game i care about the least is the social aspect…i usually play solo and seldom do i find anything worth actually interacting with others over…

any social need i fill with WoW (but thats not a single player game really)

Yeah, I do. They’re good games but nobody to play with.

Yeah, that last ‘singe player’ game I finished was Divinity 2, mainly because it has online co-op.

I find it more tough to play OW/Rivals. I’ll play Fortnite all night with friends, but I have really been enjoying playing single-player things lately. Also co-op games like Space Marine 2, Outlast Trials with friends. I finally played Lies of P, was seriously missing out. I have lots in my backlog I’m planning to get through.

I can’t bring myself to play OW

Depends on the game. Even though Baldur’s Gate 3 is only single player, it was easily the most fun time sink I’ve enjoyed in years. Same goes for Cyberpunk 2077 after dropping in a bunch of game mods.

I was starting to feel like that. However, last month I decided to get back into Skyrim, (last time I played it was in 2018). Now I’m enjoying playing Skyrim more than anything else at the moment, and find myself slowly getting back into single player games.

2077 deserves some hate it still receives, and I don’t try to convince people to play it, but what an unbelievable game that ended up being.

There’s a few. They’ve gotta be short/fast paced/arcadey games, though; I don’t have the time or energy for 60-70+ hour RPGs.

Risk of Rain 2 is a classic, good solo or with friends. Battle Shapers is a fantastic roguelite FPS, massively underrated. Cloudbuilt is another underrated title.

Yeah CP2077 was oversold on consoles that had zero chance of running it. But when you have the hardware to support full ray tracing at 120+ FPS, the game is incredible.

:joy: I haven’t heard this in months on months.

The social aspect is complete silence, then about 10 mins into a match, an exaggerated sigh directly into mic from a player dissatisfied with the match lol

Oh yeah? When is the last time you talked to someone on a game, any game?

Yesterday. Although that’s kind of cheating since it’s a friend and we talked while playing souls like games. And it was mostly a lot of frustration.

Buddy and I been playing Lies of P and DS3 alongside each other. Him playing DS3 for the first time and me playing P for the first time, both are some of each others’ favorite games. Good times.

Oh yeah I sure love it when video games have other players make others feel terrible because they are terrible people which results in everyone being angry at each other which causes a never ending cycle of toxicity.

Single player games are therapy compared to this awful community.

Im going through lies of P now.

sheesh I finished it this weekend. One of my favs.

I’m at….luxasia. It’s my first fight that has me hard stuck. It’s been smooth sailing for the most part

I was typing a reply that I felt gave too strong a tip for the fight. I hate spoiling anything like that. There’s supposedly a move of theirs that I didn’t know you could perfect guard.

Even this comment I feel like oversteps gamer boundaries lol
