Do you find forums readable?

I use to browse reddit a lot, I find it their layout very efficient to follow discussions, by a quick glance at indentation, you know who is responding to who. And on the rare occasion I browse a forum, I just find it hard to read.

Tel me wrong.

On some days yes, on some days no. Usually when a certain group of mains are active

Funny. I find Reddit hellish to read. I never use it because i cant understand it. The last time i used it was to post a Titanfall 2 video i made on the Titanfall Reddit.
Once i posted it, and everything was good. I tried to give some replies some likes and the site was like: “No. You aren’t allowed to do this right now. Your account is suspicious.”

I gave up.

These forums use discourse- A forum tool set ive been familiar with and loved for years. When bliz swapped the overwatch forums to these ones i was thrilled.

I admit my bias for discourse however- But my use of it has me very familiar with them.

I have 0 problems reading the forums. The only time following a conversation is difficult is when people dont click reply to the person they were talking to, and just reply to the thread in general. But context usually helps sort that out.

On the flip side- Im with ermor up there. I find reddit a nightmare to sift through.

Well the suspicious “you might be a bot” or “maybe you are trying to sell something” or “read the rule of this subreddit” can be a bother, I agree with that. But did you had issues reading the comments ? I introduced a friend to reddit once, he had trouble understanding how it worked, why everything was indented. Took him some time to get use to it. I’m biaised from the beginning, as a programmer it is just so straighforward.

I’ve never enjoyed the format of Reddit.

I’ve tried a few times, since there seem to be a lot of interesting discussions, but the format of the site just never made sense to me and made it a bit of a pain to read threads. But maybe I’m just weird :man_shrugging:

I find forums to be a lot more straight-forward and simple.

I don’t really use Reddit, partially because it seems so difficult to navigate conversations there. The format for comments there makes it almost impossible to follow any kind of chronology, so unless I only care about the “top” comment that was made (and what people said about that specific comment), I’m just going to miss everything.

I’m much more accustomed to the standard forum format of threads, where there’s a readable, linear progression of events. Discourse (Overwatch Forum) also includes ways to jump through them via replies, which helps navigate larger threads if people go on a tangent.

I find it mostly readable here, though sometimes it can be difficult to tell who a reply was directed at.

I definitely dislike that it doesn’t display the target of a reply when that target is the previous poster (like the post I’m typing now), but I think that’s my only major complaint about how this forum works.

Maybe they’ll fix that someday… or at least undo the change that prevents you from quoting the person above you, so we can work around it.

Depends on the thread.

I try to make my posts as readable as possible even if it means having to code a bunch of HTML or Markdown into the post…

Speaking of readable HTML, you can have nifty syntax coloring in your code blocks if you properly self-close your HTML tags.

I find most forum way more readable then the default layout of reddit. If I didn’t use an app, I would miss out on an awesome site, with a horrible layout.

I don’t really like Reddit’s layout personally. But I’ve used the forum far more than I’ve ever touched Reddit. So it might just be a case of familiarity.

Never really like Reddits layout.

Like Discord white it burns the eyes and don’t understand how people can put up with it

Night mode my guy

—-

The forum looks less messy actually.

However there is an issue where if you replay to someone and your post is the next one, it won’t show as replaying to that person which can be confusing.

I mean the layout is comparable to Discord White. I’m sure it’d have a night theme but it doesn’t change that I don’t like the layout.

I’m learning at bit of html in my C# course and I can’t stand html. :disappointed_relieved:
