i remember when lawbreakers killed overwatch, now no one plays overwatch and lawbreakers is as popular as fortnite
What is Lawbreakers?
it was a game being released a few years back i think, people predicted it was going to destroy overwatch and i think something like 10 people ended up playing it a few days after launch and servers were shut down shortly after release
That explains it, thanks.
no problem people do love to predict the downfall of overwatch but all things said its still here and survived countless times people said it was going to die
i mean obviously one day it will die but not today, not the many times people have predicted its death, that said i have not played for a while because i dont have playstation plus right now but its still obviously not dead
that game is played? LOL
It was a good game, better than OW in a lot of ways but well it lacked a lot of things that a major AAA company and publisher can do. Basically nobody not super hard into gaming even knew it existed and then the company gave up what 2 months or so into the release. Shut down the servers pretty fast for not being “popular enough”.
They were unwilling or unable to try and make it work and just gave up. Funny enough it came out before OW if I remember right, like a day or week before hand. I just remember it was super close, and obviously OW was the king in it’s first year. If it had came out a year or so later, when people were starting to see OW flaws it might of done better.
Heck if it released now people would probably like it a lot more. Paladins after all is still pretty popular if not perfect alternative to OW.
Better in many ways, worse in some.
It’s the whole hate the popular edge thing idiots like to do and many of those things are still around. I’m of the whole if they like a different game then let them play it but I don’t have to play it.
They were going to have a hero game where the only thing that mattered was skillshots. And it was gonna be so much better than OW.
I remember
That’s what happens when you make a brutally difficult to play, all-skill based game with confusing classes. Skill elitism is not really appealing to anyone within general public.
Problem is with the live service business model these days a company has to have ALL the players and all the money or it’s a failure. People even starting to dig into Fortnight lately despite being insanely popular because it’s not as popular as it used to be.
Basically if your not the only thing in town these days your a failure.
The Lore/story was also pretty garbage. I felt nothing for any of the classes. And at least at launch OW looked like a lore heavy game…
Yeah and then there are the ones who don’t want to work for it and just throw in the towl after a couple months.
poor lawbreakers really xD if any game has killed another it’s been overwatch and THAT is something no one can deny
i could be wrong but i think you might somewhat be getting it confused with battleborn(in terms of its release date) but everything else you said is spot on, i mean i knew the game existed but they pumped it up as this super skill based game and my aim sucks that is why i play hog it was something i purely was not interested in because of the marketing
How anyone can even play a game where heroes are locked is beyond me. I started it up and pressed alt f4 as soon as I saw heroes were locked.
Overwatch itself is hardcore dying. The top ranks have ridiculous que times because more and more people are leaving the game. I play healer in high diamond and low masters and I average 6 minute ques on most days. The only thing keeping the game going are the people in gold and plat who strive so hard it get to diamond and above not realizing that the very characters that got them to that new rank are the things that will ruin their fun and make them drop back down.
I think you might be thinking of Battleborn. That came out a week before Overwatch. Lawbreakers came out roughly when Doomfist hit the ptr (I could be off by a few days)
But on the topic at hand. A lot of games can straight up fail with either lack of support, lack of a market or lack of a pre existing fan base.
That’s when something new comes along it feels refreshing but at the same time concerning as it could be dropped in a moment’s notice.
lawbreakers released a demo during pax east and people LOVED it, sadly (for them) a few months later Overwatch came through and by the time they opened beta testings it was too late and Overwatch was in full swing
The game was online for a almost a full year before they shut it down, I say they but I mean players, no one was in queue and it was honestly pretty sad to see, specially when Overwatch was (and still is) this master piece of a game
Devs tried to make it work but there was no competing against Overwatch, even if they copied it straight up, they would have always been the game who tried to compete and didn’t suceed
Do you remember when overwatch had queue times over 10 min on average for its most popular role by far and the most popular overwatch streamers along with the player base were leaving in droves?
No you dont. If you say you do, you’re just an idiot trying to be edgy, hating on the perfect, most popular game of all the, which has absolutely no flaws and constantly has unlimited players playing at the same time…
Am i doing this correctly?
