Do we know much about Aaron Keller?

in terms of what he is like as a game director, for example if Jeff mentored him then not too much might change about overwatch/overwatch 2

I heard his name here and there during presentations from Blizzard.
That’s all.

I have met him a few times in my adventures. I feel confident to say he is very passionate about this game and has done a lot more behind the scenes than we realize.

He was the cringiest guy in that cringey “zoom meeting” Blizzconline.

But that really says nothing about how he’ll be as a Game Director.

Jeff was a player for sure before working as game designer.
Keller seems to have no past as gamer.

Looked him up on the OW wiki
Worked on WoW, came over to OW like Jeff, helped make King’s row

that’s really it.

We might get a dev update where he introduces himself.

“This is Aaron from the Overwatch team”. :eyes:

Very few people make games that aren’t gamers, and even fewer work as actual level designers. Jeff’s background just uniquely stood out.

which tbf, may be a good thing, for game designers to not be players, as they then start making games how they wanted them to be, instead of how they think others might find fun

shame most of them are on the dev team.

It’s like when Julie got replaced as the main presentor for the hallmark DIY gifts and decorations youtube channel all over again. I don’t like change!

I don’t like Thea, she is a usurpor!

thank you, can always rely on your posts, always great to see someone with passion in charge of the game(not saying Jeff didnt at all because i believe he did just saying he could have been replaced by someone who only cares about money, glad he isnt like that)

i will miss Jeff, but Aaron was apparently involved in developing King’s Row, so i’m still hopeful for OW2.

Maybe this game will actually be balanced and good with new leadership lol

In all seriousness it’ll be odd not seeing his face every dev update

He’s been around since the beginning of Overwatch and was a key developer in its creation.

Here’s an interview with him about Retribution

https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Aaron_Keller
" Keller joined Blizzard in September 2001, and the first game he worked on was the original World of Warcraft He was a member of the “Dungeon Team” responsible for designing the game world’s dungeons and capital cities."

" Keller noticed that no one was picking the cities and decided he wanted to be the one to build Stormwind City. In addition to designing Stormwind, Keller also built Darnassus, Ironforge, and Thunder Bluff, consequently becoming known as “the city guy” among the team. In addition, Keller created the model for the Lion’s Pride Inn"

So it looks like he knows a bit about map creation and can possibly expect at least a few new maps, and maybe lore?
