Do some mercy players even have fun?

I want to start this by stating again this is about SOME mercy’s not all, I myself enjoy playing her a lot i’d even say she’s my support “main.” My point is a lot of the time in QP I see mercy players literally just sitting there damage boosting their dps duo and I have one question… how is that fun? Playing mercy isn’t objectively boring, I enjoy flying around and getting cool rez’s off but just sitting there holding the dmg beam in QP? Sorry I just don’t get it and never will

As a support main who mains Kiriko I do wonder this myself but I also know that fun is subjective.

It can be fun if the enemy gets mad about the “pocket” but otherwise waste of time most people aim bad

Mercy is fun when divers don’t exist.

If I am in the mood to just chill, pocketing a DPS and hiding behind a wall is absolutely fun. Sometimes you want to play a game on narrative mode. Sometimes you want your soul crushed by nightmare mode. It just depends.

I get that i’d personally prefer to just fly around and help the rest of the team instead of one person though XD

i love playing mercy when im ‘on point’…meaning, her mobility to zoom and zip around the map, flying to and fro, healing and rezzing and boosting various people.

i mean, i guess you could make it boring and just sit in one spot and boost one person…but why…when there is so much more to do!

I have mostly been playing Juno, but I have the most hours in Mercy. She’s fun for movement and fun to pocket DPS with high mobility. It’s also easier to make call outs as her. But she’s in an incredibly bad spot and a majority of the time she’s not fun to play. It’s nice to relax after a hard day at work, but a majority of the time it’s more fun to play Juno.

So more to answer your question - chilling on blue beam is just nice to turn off your brain and relax.

Yes exactly!!! what makes her fun is that I can fly everywhere and everywhere not just sit in on spot watching my duo get kills

cant deny this…sometimes, when i have a headache and im not really feeling like all the focus required on ana, i just like to relax and play mercy a bit…but she can be a handful if you want to play her that way too.

I’ve always preferred the triage play style over hard pocketing for sure. GA techs go brrrrrrrr. :ok_hand::ok_hand::ok_hand: And there’s nothing like a cheeky tank rez to ruin the enemy team’s mentals. The only time I really ‘pocket’ is when the enemy hitscans are cracked and pin me down, or I’m tilted out of my mind from a loss streak and want the enemies to cry about Pharmercy. SUFFER! AS I HAVE!!!

Mercy is garbage right now

So much that no matter how much I carry games, when its time to lose, I get a scrub on chat asking me to change; its crazy

And nerf after nerf, the gameplay is still garbage. There is no reward for specialists, because the skill ceiling is hard capped

Oh look it’s your average butt hurt player complaining about mercy.

I could ask the same question about a lot of players and their hero choices/playstyle. The answer is, of course, that different people are coming at this game from different angles and have their own goals and interests.

I imagine the hard-pocketing duo playstyle resonates a lot with the “i don’t care what we do as long as we do it together” mentality. Couldn’t be me, but I understand where it’s coming from.

And fun is, ironically, not usually one of those goals or interests for whatever demented reason.

Eh. Fun isn’t the only form of satisfaction in the world. Like if a hero was really, really boring to play, but they made my mouth taste like my mom’s enchiladas, I would main them.

Likewise, for some other people, they may not be having fun playing their hero, but they get that sweet, sweet validation of earning a shiny rank in a video game, or whatever it is they’re after. I think as far as ulterior motives go, wanting to do something together with your friends–even if the activity itself is mind-numbingly dull–is not too bad.

Something like “objectively boring” doesnt even exist in the first place. Whats the point of this post? “Waaaah someone doesnt play the way i would”?

i havnt played mercy for a bit… last time i played her this happened

Not in the world, but in a video game, you would think that perhaps it would be more valuable. I guess not.

Me too. Um, unless your mom’s enchiladas are disgusting. I somehow doubt that, however. I am sure they are the bomb.
