Sigma is such a boring hero I doubt he even has mains. He fills up Top 500 some seasons and then no one picks him to be their main hero cos he’s that boring
On my main I have 800~ hours on sigma mostly from overwatch 1. Maining sigma feels like being a grandmaster chess player playing chess against checkers players playing checkers.
I’m picking sigma if I ever see akj in my lobby

No. Sig is only played when poke/hitscan is OP. He’s someone tank players resign themselves to playing, given there aren’t other options to heroes like widow
I played him allot in Oldwatch. But now, even though I want to still play him, I have allot of trouble using him. A junker queen ramatra or Reinhardt gets boosted in by a Juno and it’s over.
I wall off the heals, knock them down and watch my teammates ignore them as they get up and continue to beat me around at close range.
rush and dive counter poke. rush and dive have been meta for the literal entirety of ow2, aka, 2 years.
yeah, all the sigma mains either swapped to jq/monke or they stopped playing
Your opinion on Sig is probably one of the most hypocritical takes I see on the forums consistently.
Bruh, Cass’s kit is 90% shooting. How is his kit of “point, click, fan, repeat” more engaging than Sigma’s kit of actually making impactful decisions?
It just makes you seem like an out of touch CoD player. When youre top500 in this game, seems like your takes should probably have more nuance and sound reasoning behind them.
But you continually disappoint in this.

It’s just my opinion I find him extremely boring to play. Poke tank that can’t do anything else, it’s boring
Compared to a brawler with the most badass ultimate in the game. I don’t know it’s just my opinion, that I find guns and headshotting more fun than sitting behind a shield. Getting speed boosted around the map and two tapping people is hella fun lol
I feel like you could ask a lot of the tank players on this website or in general if they actually willingly pick Sigma cos he’s fun or engaging to play as, and they would say no. I mean I’m not really a tank player but i’m in masters and I don’t even pick Sigma on even his best maps because it’s boring to sit there and watch my Widow duel the enemy Widow
Only redeeming quality about Sigma is his rock, that ability is pretty fun lol
Tank mains would say that about any tank that isnt their main, imo.
I enjoy playing Sig cuz I want the smoke. I want to be the frontline, I want to be the thing the enemy must go through to succeed.
Playing Sig feels like playing a true tank moreso than any other tank in the game for OW2. Imo.
I think lots of people who dont want to play Sig don’t truly want to be a tank at all

yea it could just be my bias as a dps player. i always enjoyed the more dps heavy tanks like junker queen and doom

See thats fair and I totally get that. Personal taste kind of thing, totally fine opinion to have.
To over-generalize and say he’s boring and thats why he doesnt get picked is disingenuous imo. Its not his meta, thats really all the explanation needed for why he isnt seeing much play.

I actually find Sigma extremely fun to play. (Well, depending on whether the enemy team wants to ruin my day with their hero picks.)
He’s one of the rare ones maintaining the OW1 “protective force my team can rally behind” philosophy I enjoyed about tanks in the first place. You might say Reinhardt is defined by that but I never liked playing Rein because he’s TOO reliant on team. Sigma is not a barrier bot but can instead have some really satisfying flexible playstyles, most notably in how you can utilize his barrier in creative ways (btw I also really like Ramm, I guess I have a type). I also enjoy how his rock is a skillshot you can do some impressive things with like messing up really mobile characters in the middle of their thing. (In which I fail at btw since my timing still sucks hitting mobile characters, yet that’s one thing I like about him, something I can thrive to improve).
I still wouldn’t call him my main though. Zarya is my main tank. She was “the og one”, though I thin it’s no coincidence she has lot of the same properties I enjoy about Sigma and Ram.
A tank whose strength is distance is complicated, even more so with the addition of a hero that gives speed and shortens the distance
With the latest changes to heroes and maps when Sigma was good, now he is ok, and heroes and maps that he was bad with, he got worse
That is still DVA 2 bad guys zero.
i dont tank in ow2 except for occasional qp stuff, used to play rein dva hog in ow1 though.
But im a dps main at the core tracer and hanzo two trick
Ow 1 hog was so fun.
I was still on console at the time and Orisa Hog was hard meta and I ended up peaking in szn 32 bc of it.
I also enjoyed OW 1 Dva alot more (especially in Rein brawl)
And ow1 Zarya…
and ow1 sigma…
